Sète Canal

The canal was dug between 1776 and 1886 in order to allow the town to grow. On 29 July 1966, the town held its first jousting contest on the water, between a red boat and a blue boat. ThIs tradition has continued, and each boat has a crew of 10, and races between two bridges. The jousters are armed with a shield and a lance, and are pursuing the holy grail which takes place in August, the Saint- Louis Challange, since 1743

We were up, showered, packed, and sitting at a table in the Rue de Moulin, opposite the 1850 open air town market building , by 8.30. The village of Levignac seems to be undergoing somewhat of a renaissance of its own.
