View towards New Brighton and New Brighton Lighthouse (1830). "New Brighton, a favourite resort of 'trippers', lies on the Cheshire side of the Mersey, 5 M. to the N. W. of Birkenhead. The Pier, 560 ft. long, affords a fine view of the shipping and docks of Liverpool, the Irish Sea, and the mountains of Wales. By the pier is a large Palace & Winter Garden".--Baedeker DSC_0988p1
