El Capitolio

El Capitolio. Built in 1926-1929 by Purdy and Henderson, Engineers. It is modeled after the United States Capitol. The National Assembly and and Senate met here until 1959. The current legislature, Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular, does not meet here, though there are long term plans to use it again as a legislative building. IMG_6776p1

At 7:30 in the morning on Thursday, we looked out of our cabin window to find Carnival Paradise gliding past Fortaleza de San Carlos de la CabaƱa.
