Cabin
A view of our cabin Hello Blog Readers - This is the last full day at sea for this cruise. We have had a good restful time but are ready to start seeing some of the islands and going on our excursions. Those begin tomorrow, but today we enjoyed probably the best weather day at sea.
Breakfast was in the main dining room. Although we had missed Eggs Benedict the first time, they had an unexpected repeat offering and Janet had some (said it was much better than an Egg McMuffin). We restrained ourselves at lunch getting something small from the buffet because a big dinner was planned for this evening (see further below).
The weather has steadily improved, with the sea being pretty smooth for the past couple of days and the temperature today getting up to almost 80 under sunny skies. There were lots of people out sunning in the pool area and a lot of them trying to fit into the small pool. But it is good to have the warm weather we have been anticipating for a couple of days.
We attended a cooking presentation where the executive chef and the Maitre de, showing how to make a couple

Pool area on the ship of their fancy dishes. Also the Head Pastry Chef made a quick dessert. It was actually as much a comedy act as a cooking show, but we enjoyed it. And that was followed by a tour of part of the galley.
We were asked by the two couples we played trivia with the day before to join their team so we again attended the morning trivia contest and our team got 13 out of 20. Of course the winning team got 18, but this was a personal best for our team.
After lunch David attended the session on “hot spots to visit” which talked about cruises to warm water locations (Caribbean, South Pacific, and Australia/Asia). It was interesting but many of these trips were very long (24-42 days). I am sure they were marketing to a different audience than us. We also got a reply from Janet’s sister Kathy and her husband Jim who said to put them in as a referral so we would both get some kind of discount if they take a future cruise. Anyone else interested in being referred???
Janet attended the Arts & Crafts session which was about Quilling. This method is

The demo by the Chief Chef and Matre De often shown in crafting and card making magazines so she had wanted to learn about it but was not eager to invest in the tools and materials until she had a chance to try it once or twice first. She enjoyed it a great deal and made a flower so now there may be a whole new set of Christmas hints to come.
The evening began with the Captain’s Circle cocktail party. Since that is available to everyone who had previously sailed on Princess Cruises before, it probably included about two thirds of the passengers. It was ok but nothing to write home about (so I won’t), except it provides an opportunity to comment that we are still in the younger group of passengers. There seems to be only one couple on the ship with very small children and a few with teenagers who have come along. There are some people who certainly are younger than us and others that appear to about our age, but the majority seem certainly to be retired and doing this almost as a hobby instead of a vacation. Anyway, it gives us a chance to feel like youngsters once again.
Then the second (and final) formal dinner of the cruise was this evening. They had both Beef Wellington and Lobster on the menu (Janet’s two favorite dishes) so she order some of both. Good thing we planned ahead and did not have enormous lunches. It was also our designated “anniversary Dinner” so they brought us an extra dessert (a cake for two) which we could not even touch and had to take back to the cabin.
Too full and too tired to stay up for the cabaret show this evening, we settled into the cabin and finally started watching our Netflix DVD we had brought from St Louis (actually have had for quite awhile from before). We got our things in order for the morning and are all excited about finally seeing land again.
