Good morning. For those who think that Monday is a workday, be advised that this was a sleep-in morning on the ship. Last night was a late night for us and then we lost an hour in time zones, so we slept until about 9:00 (that would be 6:00 AM in St Louis). It was very restful. But then it was time to get a meal and make a plan for today.
We attended the presentation on Greenock Scotland, which also included Glasgow, Edinburgh, and much of the Scottish lochs and terrain. We are learning that there will be much that we miss each time we go on an excursion, so maybe someday we will need to visit again but spend more time in each place.
The captain announced that we had past the midpoint on our way to the Azores (short to keep going than to turn around and go back to Florida). Of course they are only about 2/3 of the way across the ocean, so there will be more cruising after that day of exploring.
The weather has been really great until today. There have been a few brief showers along the way, but this
Wave in Pool
Near front wall morning the winds were 30 knots, and the ship was sometimes sending spray as high as our cabin window. But it is still comfortably warm and in the afternoon David got to spend more time in the pool. Actually the outside pool water was very cold, but there is also an indoor pool which was very comfortable. The ships motion through the waves caused an effect in the pool similar to a wave pool at an amusement park. And the hot tub was almost warm enough to cook a lobster.
While David was in the pool, Janet went to the matinee in the main theater to see Country Strong starring Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow that she had missed in the theatres (see pictures of waves in the pool).
Of course we cannot always relax; this was also our first attempt to use the Laundromat. The ship does have a clothes cleaning service, but it is almost as expensive as throwing them out and buying new ones. Anyway, we sorted the laundry, washed & dried, and now we are set with another week of clean clothes. Later in the trip the Laundromat may become more crowded since there
are only limited numbers of machines. Maybe this will allow us to dodge the largest crowds by not doing laundry at the midpoint of the cruise.
Dinner was excellent again this evening, this time being Surf & Turf. Janet has been having steaks most nights, while David has been having Salmon, Roast Duck, Prime Rib, and various kinds of fresh seafood. Additionally there are appetizers and salads, as well as desserts with each dinner. We are certainly enjoying the meals.
After dinner we went to a very high powered performer who both played the piano, and did song and dance routines. On our previous cruise there were nights when the performer seemed to be completely out of touch with the audience, but so far each show has been very good on this cruise. After that, David went to the Vista Lounge to see a hysterically funny comic magician and Janet adjourned to the cabin to get some rest.
As his final magic trick, he is going to make another hour disappear tonight – not sure what time zone it is called, but I think we will be in the same time zone with Iceland (obviously a lot

Near Rear Wall further south). Unfortunately we do not seem to have satellite coverage right now, so this Blog Entry will have to wait awhile to get posted. Good night.
