Mt. Cook and Mt. Tasmin
sunrise (or a little before) So New Zealand is truly amazing...I know I said that last time...but this place really is. Around every corner there is a breathtaking view. Tobias and I are literally, stopping every 10 minutes when we drive to take more pics. There is no way that I could post even a 10th of the photos on here!
Since my last update we have done tons of hikes (tramps) at least 3 a day (unless we do a big one). I have slept in the car 3 times. Our tent does not do well in rain or heavy wind; and we seem to run across those two things a night a lot around here. I will say that we have still been camping (or at least attempting for part of the night) in absolutely beautiful places....none (save 1) has been legal either...but come on...it’s a little more fun that way (plus we are “good” campers..not making a mess or anything like that). We have actually started to make use of really popular and large hostels....free showers....if you pretend like you belong there (Jeff you’d be proud).
One night we drove down the crazy long windy road, and there where signs everywhere

sea weed that the road floods, and to drive at your own risk and things like that. So when we camped...and woke up at 3 in the morning to cats and dogs (raining) we got a little worried packed up our stuff in a hurry (got soaking wet) and then luckily made it out of there...good old Bill (our car). We ended up sleeping in Bill on the side of the road for the rest of the night.
A few days ago when in Franz Joseph (NZ) we went on an all day Glacier Hike. And I actually met some Americans (the first that I have met so far in NZ). A really entertaining and fun group of gay men...they really added a lot to a somewhat long hike through the glacier. The hike was pretty cool, but very easy (although we where in the “Advanced group” we ended up sitting around waiting a lot...for what...I don’t know. But the ice was sooooo blue, and some of the drop-off’s just seemed to go on forever. Definitely worth while.
Another morning Tobias and I went on a cave hike. We actually had no idea what to expect or whole long it
pic
pic was but...man it was scary (you can’t really say that about to many hikes). We tramped for about 30 minutes until we get to this cave...more like a mine shaft going into the ground with a little scream (ice cold) coming out of it. The tunnel is about 6 ½ feet high and about 4 feet wide (pretty damn small) and you can see no light at the other end. So we enter...and all we have is this tiny little flash light that dad got me for Christmas (just like every year). So I’m leading, Tobias is holding onto my back...and we are slowing going down this tunnel to god knows where...well it all worked out and was a truly unique hike (we saw glow worms).
Basically everyday we get blown away by the landscapes, go on hikes 10 times better then you could imagine, and really just soak it up. (Dad I went fly fishing today). I love it here, and would totally recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors. Tonight I am in Queensland and we are actually staying in a hostel....2 straight nights in the car...we deserve it.
I hope that you enjoy the

Hey!
Hey Chris, those pictures are amazing, I can't believe that you're there. Sounds like Tobias is a great guy and I'm really glad that worked out for you because I know you were a little hesitant about sticking with someone for two weeks. Miss you back here but I'll be in London and Scotland in a few days!!!! Can't wait to post my pictures for you, haha. Love you! Lisa - Lisa
