We decided to spend a few days on Stewart Island at the most southernly point of New Zealand. This is pretty much as far away from Ireland that you can get!

Just another ordinary boat trip until....

We get a distress call from a fishing boat that's taking on water. The guy making the call seemed like he was panicking. We understand now why this is one of the most dangerous straights in the world.

Everyone got on board safely, even the skipper of the boat who was a bit reluctant to leave his sinking vessel.
