Well we have arrived in Queenstown and the views are amazing. We travelled up through Otago and the views again were spectacular - I think I need to take back my original thoughts that New Zealand was just like Scotland as some of the scenery here is even more amazing than the scenery in Scotland (sorry Scotland).
We have booked into a little B&B and found it immediately so no cross words in the car today, ha ha. The B&B is right on the waterfront and our vista (posh words or what!) from our room is amazing.
We have to go to the trek office today where we are starting our trek to find out what we definitely need to take as it has a chill in the air here and I am not sure what it will be like on our trek. We only have summer clothes with us as we have been in sunny climates until we arrived in New Zealand. I am not sure that a pair of shorts is going to be warm enough - although since we have arrived in Queenstown it has got a lot hotter. We do not
King of all he surveys
How cool is this vista? want to take too much as what we take we have to carry - so a bit of a dilemma here I think.
We have also been wearing our walking boots for the last few days and trying to walk everywhere as we noticed in the itinerary that you should have been building up your walking for the last 6 - 8 weeks - oops I should read the small print before booking us on these treks. I am thinking that we are only walking for 5 days how hard can that be, ha ha
On our way to Queenstown we stopped at the original bungy jump place so we went back today to see someone do a jump today just to check out what actually happens and did it give me confidence NO am I still going to do it? I think so, but after the trek.
Whilst at the trek briefing you would not even guess it, there was another couple with the name Fairbairn - you could not guess that 2 male Fairbairns on the Milford trek.
After the briefing I needed to go out and buy some quick drying pants and also some waterproof over trousers - this trek is costing a fortune and not only that is also adding to what we have to carry. Everyone says the trek is brilliant and one of the worlds best treks. I cannot believe it but everything we seem to do has the “the worlds best” in its title - do you wonder if the marketing guys have something to do with this or are we just lucky, emmmmmmm
Well it will be a few days before you get another blog as we do not have any signal either phone or wifi for the next 5 days - so look after yourselves. Hopefully when I return it will not be of tales of blisters but the vistas, ha ha
