Mt. Bob
Gondola ride 2/22/2012
In midmorning, we made out way to the Queenstown Visitor Centre
where we selected our high adventure activities for the duration of our stay in Queenstown. John and Hugh expressed a strong interest in the Ziptrec Ecotour, in simple terms, a deluxe model flying fox. Despite some reservations, Robyn and Barbara decided that if we couldn’t beat them, we would join in the fun … !!!
So….Trampers 4 headed to Skyline Gondola for a ride to the summit, elevation (5000ft.) with cut lunch in hand. We enjoyed our lunch while watching hang gliders launch from Mt. Bob. At 2pm, we made our way to the zip line launch (an invention brought in from Whistler Mountain in Canada. Our two guides, Kenny from UK and Mollie from Colorado,
checked our harness and gave us the instructions. Hugh took his final step from the steps to ‘Heaven’ and swung out of view. Trampers 3 followed suit. We had 4 launches each one getting longer and steeper.
Kenny and Mollie were great, encouraging us with their confidence, personality, and flying tricks.
After getting our feet firmly re-planted on Queenstown soil, we made our way
Mt. Bob
Lunch on top to the Shotover River for a jet boat ride through the beautiful Shotover River Gorge with views of Mt. Aspiring National Park. We were joined by a group of young people from India who gave all the appropriate squeals as the boat captain did his tricks including several 360 degree turns.
