As there were 3 of us who were celebrating our birthdays within a few days of each other, and it was also the last week in New Zealand for some of us we turned today into a day of celebrations. Sarah, Louise, Ewa (who had now caught up with us, and was also staying in our room) and I had a lazy morning and then met up with the guys - Jacko, Joe, who was staying with family just outside the city, and Marty, who was YHAing (in the centre of town for a change). We all spent the afternoon together in the park which was just around the corner from our hostel, enjoying the sun and playing ball games. It was a really good idea, not necessarily making the most of the city we were in, but making the moments of our last few days as a group. Although I've onyl really known all these people for about 3 weeks they feel like my magic bus family. I've had so much fun with them, it's going to be hard to say goodbye.

When it got too cold to be out in the sun we went our separate ways to get ready to go out. We had decided to treat ourselves to dinner out (in a chinese, that was also a takeaway and only cost about $8 each, so not really pushing the boat out but a luxury none the less). During dinner the day that had been lovely turned all of a sudden and before we knew it it was hailing!! Once it had cleared we went out for some drinks to celebrate before we all went in our different directions again! I had a really fab & very happy unbirthday!! 😊
