Christchurch Botanic Gardens

Strolled through the Botanic Gardens in dull weather. Visited the rather unimpressive Arts Buildings, which was little more than a collection of craft shops. I attended a WW1 exhibition on the sole Kiwi to receive the Victoria Cross in WWI (... Nichols). He was later killed in action. We had coffee at Cathedral Cafe and strolling home we stopped for a beer. A ceremony was going on in the nearby Remembrance Gardens which I later found out was the unveiling of a statue of the WW1 soldier.
