Tuesday 27/1/15 Napier to Wellington. Quite a long drive to Wellington from Napier but very scenic and very quiet until close to the city. Stopped in a couple of almost deserted towns for coffee and lunch and made it to the apartment in Wellington just after 4pm. Nice apartment, plenty of space to spread out after the small room in Napier and a parking space right at the door. We were close to the city just a street back really but down 177 steps and then a bit of hill! The way back up was ok because we could go up a lift in the James Cook hotel and through their lobby onto our road. Took a walk round the city and along the waterside, busy place with lots of water activity, boats and jumping. Had tea in a Cuban restaurant in Cuba St! Weirdly the kitchen was closing a 9.15 which gave us 15 mins to get our order in. Good food though. Managed to find the supermarket on the way home to buy breakfast for the two mornings in the apartment.
