Stairway to Heaven
Literally. This is suspended above the University Library square. I've most likely left this for far too long. SO much to catch up on.
Typically, the day is split into morning and afternoon classes, with 1-2 hours of break in between for lunch. I get up at 7:30am and classes end anywhere from 3:30-5:30pm.
Te Papa Museum: They have all kinds of exhibits. I've been through the whole thing by now, including the library. There's a whole floor for Maori artifacts, a full sized warship, a trade ship, a meeting house and a storage house. It's all pretty cool. The cafe has one of the best Chai Lattes I've ever had. They have a full size pygmy blue whale, the world's largest squid, a whole other floor of paintings and sculpture, and this neat little earthquake house. It squeaks. =P
Botanical Gardens: It's huge and deceptively hilly. I haven't even gone to the sculpture garden or the greenhouse. I have gone to a concert at the stage they have there, though. The Biology and Geology classes have taken us on 2-4 hour walks through the park. It's so beautiful, I don't notice how long I'm out. This lead to me getting sunburned and it has taken a week
Stick bug
This was on Mary's hat for a long time before someone told her. Immediately 5 cameras where pulled out and we jostled for a good shot. (BG) to heal.
Lord of the Rings and WETA Tour: Our guide picked me and a bunch of other people from the SPS group at Te Papa. We went to the top of Mt. Victoria and had a view of the entire area. Next we went to a series of LOTR filming locations. I sat where Elijah Wood and the other Hobbits hid from the Nazgul; learning that the tree was fabricated. We saw where the hobbits tumbled downhill after being chased. The part where the Nazgul was on the ridge, bathed in blue fog and a white back light, I was there too. It was basically a lot of trees LOL. Still fun though. The last part was seeing how WETA works and where they work and what they were working on (through the form of a DVD)! Still, seeing actual working movie props is pretty cool. The tour guide took us back another way than usual, so we got to see residential areas, and tide pools, and the boat used in King Kong that they're going to sink soon.
It hasn't been all fun and games. I still have at least 8 hours of class everyday. I'm
Climbing Tree
This tree is fabulous! It's easy to climb and you can lay down on the flat top. Surprisingly comfy. (BG) getting a jump on the papers due in April by getting them done now as well as staying current/ahead of homework dues.
More to come! =)
edit: I think the photos are fixed. Try reloading.

The Stick Bug
If that had been on me - well I'd be a walking advertisement for why old people need Depends! Thought it was so cool you got to see some of the filming sites - the photos are all great (even the stick bug!)
