Billy Blacks
Uncle Andy on stage 25/11/06
After we had something to eat we went to a farm show called Billy Blacks. It started off with us learning something about how farmers had to clear the land in the old days without ladders for chopping trees down and how they moved them with just metal lifting boards and horses and carts.
Uncle Andy was asked to go up on stage with another bloke and they had this big saw and had to try and slice a piece off. They both had to put stupid straw hats on and yes they did look stupid. They managed to saw through it a bit but it looked like hard work.
He didn't have a computer to download stuff but had string on the wall and when he pulled them a different animal came out of the pens at the back and walked onto the stage. Really clever. First of all he brought on a Kiwi Bear - which is really a Possum. They are pests here and people aim for them when they are on the road! A lot of flat ones on the road. Then he brought on a big black pig that river danced, a
donkey that knelt down and prayed for rain, then he brought on his sheep dog which was a Huntaway breed. They just bark a lot and it seems like they are telling the sheep to get a move on. It brought two sheep and a ram onto the stage and the ram knew where the food was and headed straight for it. Then Billy had to catch a sheep to show us how they sheared them in the old days. He got another 3 people on stage and they had to hand turn an old generator thing which made the blades move on the shears. It took a while but he managed to do it.
Then he disappeared and came back riding a big fresian cow called Big Mac (can't guess why). No idea what they are fed it on but I don't think Macdonalds are going to run out of meat any time soon.
He has built different Motel/Hotel rooms on his land as well. He has a really old plane which Uncle Andy said was full of spiders and wouldn't like to stay in, an old train which didnt look too bad and a Hobbit House

Donk the Donkey which looked smart. In the middle of the lake he has started building a boat house. Way out in the sticks so not a lot to do at night. The photos of the rooms look alright inside.
After that we drove for another 20 minutes (felt like an hour) as the roads were really windy and Aunty Tina fell asleep and I was OK as I had my music pumping on the walkman. We thought we were going to run out of petrol before we got there - sure Uncle Andy free wheeled a bit down the hills. Anyway we got to the car park and had to walk for all of 5 minutes to get to the falls and it was worth it. They looked spectacular - hope you like the photos.
After we had managed to find a petrol station, we decided to finish off the day with a take away curry. We all had different ones and I went for mild, Aunty Tina medium and Uncle Andy Indian Hot - what a mistaka to maka. He couldn't eat it all, sweat was pouring off him, nose was running and the beer was going down really

sheep getting sheared quickly. Don't think it helped though. Ours were OK and we managed just fine. Just decided to stay in and watch movies but nothing on Sky and ended up watching Billy Connolly so we had a good laugh.
Sunday we all got up at 6 to watch the rugby - what a mistake that was - nuff said.
After that I was at work until 3 then when I had finished I got picked up, brought back, told to change and we were back out the door to go to a b-b-q at a friend of Uncle Andy's. We sat about for 3 hours, they fed the kids with loads of sausages, put the b-b-q out, lit a big bonfire for us all to try and get warm with and then the three of us decided to come home because we were starving and tired. They were going to light the b-b-q again later after the kids were asleep but we couldn't wait that long. After getting up so early we were all in bed by 9.30.
All in all a very busy weekend. Next week we are going to our first Xmas party - Uncle Andy's
work - so will let you know how that goes.
Speak soon,
Ebo
