All geared up to go!
This morning we went black water rafting. It was a lot of fun. We got all decked out in a wetsuit, a wetsuit jacket, wetsuit booties, boots, and a helmet with lamp. It wasn't very easily to get around with all that constricting gear on. We learned a little safety, and then headed out to the cave. We picked up an innertube, and got to practice jumping backwards into the water. It wasn't too scary (the anticipation was a little nerve wracking), but I got a lot of water up my nose. After that we moved from the river we were practicing on into the actual cave. It was a pretty short entrance, so lots of ducking for taller people. The water was cold, but not really so bad. We walked around some, and then we did our backwards jump into the water. I made a very loud, very big splash. We floated around some more, and got to a section with glow worms. They gave us a chocolate fish to snack on while they told us about the worms. Then we jumped backwards again off a small waterfall and got into the 'eel' position. Where we line up and put

our feet on the tubes in front of us, and that person holds our feet so we are all strung together. We turned out all our lights, and just enjoyed. It was really relaxing and beautiful. The rest of it was more walking around, floating, and at one point going on a faster current on our stomachs. We both had a really good time. Adam was talking to one of the guides about the eels that live in the cave. He said some get up to 20 feet! We didn't see any, but he said there were some in there. Adam wishes he had brought bread to feed them!
Afterward we got hot showers (well, I did. Adam's shower never got warm) and got some warm bagels and soup. It was nice. We then did a walk on a pathway around a cave. It was really pretty. The sun had come out and the weather was beautiful.
We are staying in Hamilton tonight, which doesn't seem like a super exciting place. But we are going up to Auckland tomorrow to show our van to a potential buyer. Then, hopefully, continuing north towards the Bay of Islands.
