Spookers
The old mental house. I just had the scariest day of my life! It was so fun though! Today I went to a strawberry farm out near the Auckland airport. I got up at 10:30. I quickly got dressed and went down stairs to the coffee shop across the road. I got myself a mocha and a crossiant, a dark chocolate one to be excact. To get to the strawberry farm it was going to take a while, maybe 45 minutes so I called the cab around 12 to start heading down there.
We passed a lot of the countryside on the way, I never really counted how many sheep I saw but there was a truckload of them in every field you passed by. There were so many trees too, and the grass was always really green. So much greener than in Australia.
I payed the cab driver $45 when I arrived at the strawberry farm. There was a driveway that led up to a shack. The sign said 'STRAWBERRIES' The driveway was made up of dirt and lose stones. To the right of it was rows of green bush behind a fence. The sun was nice and warm today and I
The butchers room.
This by far was the scariest room for me. A man hacking apart a human (fake) body. didn't need to wear a jumper. I made my way up the path to the shack. The room was bright yellow with strawberry painting all around on it. Behind the till was 3 ladies. One of them was tending to customers, collecting their money and putting it into the till, another was weighing the strawberries and the other was turning customers strawberries into ice-cream. They even had a small cafe on the other side of the room, it sold mostly strawberry flavoured baked goods.
One kilo of strawberries was $30, which I thought wasn't too bad. To the left of a door there was a green stack of buckets people could take to use to put their strawberries in. I scanned the field to find a place where not many people were. There were a lot of children there compared to the places I had been before. Children were in their gum boots helping their parents pick strawberries. I found a corner where no one was right at the back right corner of the field. I started to pick and put them into the bucket. The strawberries were huge, and they smelt really sweet too! I only ended up getting a kilo and a half. Most of the really good strawberries had already gone to previous customers.
By 2:30-3:00 I finished picking and went to go get them weighed and packaged for me to take back to the hotel. I turned a few of them into fresh ice-cream which could be brought home too. They even gave you a cute little esky bag so that it wouldn't melt on the way home.
I called the cab driver and told him to take me to the nearest starbucks. I didn't wait too long for him, maybe 10 minutes because he was already in the area. Before I came here my sister told me to order this ridiculous drink that had a ridiculous name. I think it was a venti white chocolate mocha frappechinno with a caramel shot? Don't quote me on that. It also tasted ridiculous-ly good. I had a muffin aswell with it and a small fudge slice. The fudge slice was really rich but I liked it. (:
I was home around 4 and then I put the strawberries and the strawberry ice-cream in the fridge and went to have a nana nap. For what awaited me that night was going to be the highlight of my trip!
I woke up at 7 for Spookers. Spookers is an old mental house that got turned into a horror house. There are professional actors that dress up to scare you. They have ridiculously good make up on and they can touch you unless you say the code word. They also can throw blood on you, and if you're a parent picking up your kid from there, they come up to your car and throw blood on your windshield, and me being a fan of horror movies and scary stuff, I was so excited I almost peed.
When i arrived it was already night fall and it was 9 oclock. I walked up the stairs of this big building with a fence that had barbed wire all around it. You could hear screams and I was already a bit scared to go by myself but there was no way I was missing this. I payed $55 for the Super Scare, including an activity called claustrophobia and a group photo.
When I got to the front of the line, I paid my money and got stamped with a ghost on my arm. The codeword for not being touched by the actors was 'jeans'. Infront of me there was a huge dark dirty hall, and other people. I didn't know really where to go so I followed the crowd. The floor was black and white and checkered. The lights were off and we first entered a room with a lady holding a screaming baby and a little midget who was pulling at the ladies dress. Once the lady saw us she was touching a girls face telling her to hold her baby. It was super creepy. It continued like this till some guy got a huge fright and accidentally punched an actor in the face, due to reflex. I thought it was funny.
After many scares I went and did Claustrophobia. It was in the padded room where all the walls were padded and you had to be in a straight jacket with an actor who was really creepy. I swore a lot. Whoops. They kept you in the room till you yelled 'Potatos'. I lasted 10 minutes tops. By the time I had gotten a photo with the cast and was covered in blood it was midnight.
I was really tired so I waited down the road from the mental/horror house so actors wouldn't come attack me while waiting for my cab. The cab didn't take long to come get me. It was dark but I liked travelling at night, the yellow street lights made me sleepy and I fell asleep in the last 5 minutes of the car ride. My cab driver awkwardly woke me up by saying really loudly 'THAT'LL BE 25.50' I quickly woke up and remembered where I was. I paid the cab driver and made my way back to my room and crashed for the night.
