Good evening all!
We have arrived in New Zealand, Auckland! The weather is spring like, slightly damp in the air but comfortable (not cold!)
The flight was crazy, left the UK at 4.00pm Sunday, arrived here Tuesday at 5.15am! Crossing time zones all over the place, we were finger-printed in LA, along with everyone else; while the plane was refuelled.
However we did get free Tea and snacks. The trip added up like this:
10.00am leave sunny Ashford, 4.00pm leave UK = 10hr flight.
2hr stop over in LA. 15 hr flight to Auckland. 2hr bus ride on shuttle bus to hostel (crazy taxi driver!), due to heavy traffic in the city.
We have both decided that we wouldn't want to stop over for a night in LA, as it would have made it far longer, with no time to recover lost sleep.
The bikes seem to have arrived ok, will know more when I start to assemble them. Helena has already picked up a thousand leaflets on adventure sports!
(Helena: I have found a beach known as kite beach, we will be heading there soon!)
We can see hills on the horizon and, are both keen to push on a soon as possible, see if our weary legs can hit those pedals!
Our BK hostel is nice, friendly, clean and helpful! However there are dens of disrepute round the corner, so interesting neighbourhood!

The joys of Hethrow traffic
I reckon it took longer to get onto the M25 than it took you guys to reach mid Atlantic. I had the feeling that I had crossed into a parallel universe and most certainly crossed several time zones as I sat in the traffic inching forward. Glad to hear yo have arrived OK Biggles, Alge and Goldfinger
