Things were pretty chill today so I took the opportunity to get in a run and go to a new beach. Beach Bar is known for having sand volleyball and a little deeper ocean area with waves. My biggest disappointment of the island is the reef that surrounds the majority of it. The reef protects the island from typhoons and tsunamis but also prevents waves from getting close to shore and most areas are relatively shallow. Getting out past the reef is possible but if you get taken by a wave you get tossed into the reef which I am going to guess is painful. Here there is a channel that leads out past the reef and it is deep enough to take you over the top of the reef if you get taken. So much ... read more

Today we were able to get a hike in thanks to Jules’ friend Ko. Shelby and I just did not understand why everyone was so adament that we did not hike alone until we got out there. We did Waterfall Valley which was an easy 30 minute hike down and 30 back. We added a little additional extra trek down the river to see if there was another fall nearby, but the mosquitos quickly put an end to this trek, but not before we came to a bambo patch growing over the river in arches. There were 3 waterfalls. The first was extremely tall but not much water power. The second reminded me of Havasu because of the wide rock structure and many tiers of water coming down. There was a pool that you could swim ... read more

Guam and Northern Mariana Islands are Hot Places for Nurses, CNAs and Military Branches. They are extremely important for those heroes as they are part of the whole US and part of the World's Important Professionals. They are the people we cannot live without. Guam has a very interesting airport to travel to. Guam Won Pat International Airport the most interesting airport to see. You need to make sure when you are travelingt o Guam that you bring your passport and/or any kind of document showing proof of citizenship. You are not required to have a passport to travel to Guam but it is almost as necessary to bring a passport when traveling to NMI and Guam as they are almost international places (Though they are domestic). I went to Guam and it was very nice. ... read more

Q. How many boardings does it take to get a United Flight off the ground? A. Well in our case it was three, making for a 3 hour delay on a flight with 37 minutes air time. Suffice it to say that the “friendly skies” were rather grumpy in all quarters the day we flew from DC to Pittsburgh. And so begins the fourth (and final) quarter of our US holiday. Fortunately the delay was not enough to derail our plans for the evening which involved meeting up with friends who we had not seen in 30 years, and being whisked off by them for a quick bite to eat and then on to the stadium on the south side of Pittsburgh for the regional grand final of the schools' lacrosse competition in which their son ... read more

Hello :) I'm just getting around to writing my Guam travel blog….it's been very busy at work since we got back and it's the first chance I've had. In fact, I'm only allowed to do it as a treat for writing loads of reports yesterday! That's how exciting my life has been for the last 2 weeks! So, Guam! We had a bit of a rush to the airport (standard) as we went to see Rachel's Teaching Assistant Annie on her wedding day first. She was getting married at 5pm, which we didn't know when we booked our flight for 8pm (we presumed it was going to be a bit earlier) so we couldn't stay for the whole thing, but we saw her in her 'bridal room' before the actual ceremony, gave our gifts and left! ... read more

I am sure you'll find people scanning this piece that happen to be wondering, "Where is Guam?" For all those people I am going to begin with letting them know that Guam is actually a Pacific Island located about a few hours journey coast of Japan. The native inhabitants are Tano and Chamorro. Guam concerns an 18-hour flight away, which happens to be broken into segments which will take you can either through Honolulu or Japan. In any case, we do hope you are lucky enough to get a flight that will permit you to definitely enjoy either place. However you arrive, Guam is certainly worth thetrip. People primarily journey to Guam for military purposes. There's an... read more
