I know we've given you a summary of the Cook Islands but we need to give you a further update.....

We mentioned that there were gazzillions of wild chickens and roosters roaming the Island and then we found out that it's OK to eat them, but you have to catch them first. Well that was it, the hostel went on a mission. 2 guys in particular (Sean and Gareth) set off on the motor bike armed with stale bread, a big knife and some rocks. They returned 2 hours later chickenless and fed up. They persisted though and it was hillarious to watch them chasing the speedy chickens around the hostel grounds. However, try as they might they still couldn't catch one. (Jen and I gave up after 10 minutes) So plan B..... They enlisted the help of 3 local kids aged about 10 and within minutes they'd grabbed one, plucked and gutted it. It was amazing and the funniest thing we've seen so far!!

We also went to church on Sunday and although that's not normally our thing, it was fantastic. Nick especially loved the choral singing in Maori and the whole mass was a mixture of english and Maori. Afterwards they invited us for a tea and some nibbles in the church hall and it was a fantastic free spread! Fancy cakes, sandwiches, pastries, fruit and more. The whole hostel had gone and we filled our boots.

We're in New Zealand at the moment but we'll tell you more about that later...

Hope you're all well. xx
