From Hawaii back Home

The last day of our around the world trip had arrived. We had one more day in Honolulu before we departed back to our homeland. A warm day in Honolulu made us enjoy a walk along the beach. But than at 5 p.m. the taxi was there to take us to the airport. Our flight was not till 10.15. There was a bit of waiting time we spent on looking at shops and having a few coffees. We had a long flight ahead. First nine hours from Hawaii to Auckland, new Zealand and from there another five to get back to Adelaide. We had a bit of a sleep on the first session but towards Adelaide there was not much sleeping at all. We arrived at 10.25 and than the fun really started. After travelling for 5 month and a 14 hour flight we were nominated by the Customs to go through every suitcase, camera bag, hand luggage we had with us. After taking everything out we were told if we want to save time we should repack it ourselves. This all took a lot of time while our family had to wait patiently in the arriving hall. They came with enough cars to take the luggage back to our place. After such a long trip, you can imagine that the reunion was very nice. They spent a few hours with us before they left. We had to do a bit of shopping before we could settle back. We had our first home cooked meal. We stayed awake as long as we could but by about 9.p.m. we decided to surrender. We knew that a lot of work was waiting in the coming days. We hope you have enjoyed the travelblog. Not always easy to find the Internet connection to write your travel blog. but Liz and I enjoyed doing it.
