Was so glad this morning that we didn't have to get up early and sit outside all day bored! Instead we got up and meandered across to the shops for hangover supplies for tomorrow :p then just chilled out till leaving to walk down to the harbour at about 4pm. When we got to the harbour it was mental, masses of people were just sat everywhere on blankets, we could hardly get through the crowds to our wharf. After final managing to join the queue we stood for about 1hr 30mins waiting for our boat (they'd told us to get there early in order to fight our way through the crowds) but we were glad we had as it meant we had a choice of where to sit. We ended up with really good seats on the outside top deck. The bar was unfortunately only selling beer and wine so I was forced to drink evil, evil wine but I added lemonade to make it taste a little better. We got on the boat at 19:15 so for the first hr and a half we just circled the harbour going past the hoards of people squashed around the harbour. For the 21:00 we really could not have been in a better position, we were just next to the bridge and had a perfect view 😊 These were breathtaking and the firework fountain that came off the bridge was fantastic. For the next couple of hrs our boat took part in the parade if lights, basically all the lit up boats follow each other around the harbour and the people on land wave and scream as you pass! Every hour fireworks were set off. At midnight though we were further away from the bridge than in the earlier ones we still had a great, unobstructed view. I didn't know where to look as there were just fireworks going off everywhere, they were at both sides off the boat, on the bridge and the skyscrapers. We befriended a couple from Leeds on the boat as well as a couple from Sydney and after we got back to shore we went for a drink with the Leeds couple (at last a vodka!) before walking though the people packed street back to our hostel. Rob got some great pics however I was on video duty and unfortunately whilst I have some fantastic videos they don't appear to want to be uploaded on here 😞
