Meeting The FamilyMeeting The FamilyMeeting The Family

Here's Sarita with the newest member of the de Gruchy clan little Jake da Booty.
Yes in the words of the great singer/songwriter Peter Allan 'I still call Australia home' and why wouldn't you, it rocks. Good work to all those friends and family smooth talking Sarita on the virtues of the great land, now if someone could just provide us with stacks of cash and some good jobs for us and some of the UK family to move over to, we would be there in a second.

It was all a bit of a whirlwind tour but still great to catch up with all our friends and family in Melbourne, Adelaide, Armidale/Bellingen and Sydney. Especially happy that Grandad finally got to meet Sarita and that we both got to meet Jake.

We sat and chilled out at some great cafes and pubs in Melbourne and caught a tram around the place. We had a great Christmas BBQ, with gorgeous food and drink, and some nice warm weather. We had some Koalas in the back yard. We wandered around some wineries in SA. We swam in Never Never Creek in The Promised Land (no really that is what the place is called). We had a good NYE in Sydney, watching the fireworks, and new

We got a tent and I got a new hat to use in Africa. Here is our test run in the backyard in Adelaide, where we were kept up all night by grunting Koalas and screeching possums... I don't know if we are so at one with nature when it is so noisy
years day down the beach.

Thanks to all our friends and family for spending time with us as it was a great Christmas and NYE period and to all those back in the cold and grey UK we wish you could have been here (this whole living on separate sides of the globe can be a real drag sometimes, can't it!).

Next it is off to South Africa for some surf and safari!

Beautiful Swimming Holes at Never Never Creek just after some huge tropical thunderstorms. I got to play around swimming in the waters while Sarita and Betty enjoyed the scenery. We went for a little walk through the forest on the way back to the car and got our feet covered in leeches. Impressively Sarita was very cool, calm and collected and didn't run around like a mad English person screaming 'help, help an Australian beastie has got me and I'm going to die'.

Some very nice fireworks to bring in NYE. Sarita loves her fireworks I really had to wait until the show had finished to get my New Years kiss!
