Esperance - Great Ocean Drive (Observatory Lookout with Ian and Robyn) Esperance From Salmon Gums we had a short drive to Esperance, stopping at Scaddon for a quick look at Pioneer Park.
Oh my goodness it is cold! I knew it would get colder as we headed south but I don't like this at all - I know I wanted to chill out but this is taking it a bit far... The forecast was for rain everywhere so we figured we may as well be in a beautiful town, but there really isn't much to do when it is freezing cold, wet, and a long weekend (most of the shops are shut).
Fortunately we met up with friends from Grafton who are in WA for a couple of weeks. We were able to catch up and do some sightseeing together. It was a very nice couple of days - even though it was so cold and wet and we didn't do very much. We took a drive out to Lucky Bay and did the Great Ocean Drive. The beaches here are stunning, with beautiful white sand and brilliant blue water.
We had planned to travel west along the coast from Esperance, but it is too wet and cold

Scaddon - Pioneer Park for beach/outdoor activities, and the forecast for the coastal areas is to remain cold and wet for the next week at least. We also need to get the car serviced again (already over 20,000km) so tomorrow we will head north-west (I need sunshine and warmth) towards Northam where we have the car booked in for Friday. Hopefully we will be able to dodge the worse of the weather.
