This is not Caroline, she does not burst out of the swag in the mornings
03/10/2015 North Dandalup

We both woke early, there had been the lightest of rain throughout the night, I had to get out of bed twice in the night and when I climbed out from under the doona, got out the swag in just my jocks the night time temperature was still fairly warm, we are still in spring but the days are warming up in the early 30’s.

Some people were up and about early tending bikes and getting them selves prepared for another day in the saddle and it seemed like it was going to be another good day, I wandered over to the catering facility and the hot water boilers were steaming, so I made us both a coffee and took Caroline’s back to the swag where she complained there was not table, yea right, a table in a swag is just not going to happen.

Our day was going to be fairly easy to start with as we would let everyone go before we packed up as we didn’t have a check point to man until the very last section of the day, so we had a free day certainly up until lunch

Jack and the toilet
time.

Breakfast for the riders was a 07.30, it was bacon and egg muffins and cereal if required, we sat with everyone and enjoyed bit of breccy, all the riders were preparing themselves for their days ride and most people were away by about 08.15am and once everyone was gone, we took the bedding out of the swag, put it in its bin liner and set about rolling the swag and putting back in toits bag then on to the roof of the truck and strapped it down, we then reversed up to the dunny and hooked the toilet trailer to Jack did a light check then departed the site but not going to far as Trevor one of our members had asked Caroline if she would drop in to take some photos of the Hotham Valley steam train just around the corner.

It must have taken us two minutes for us to get there, we parked and grabbed our camera’s and walked over to the engine which was puffing great clouds of black smoke, a guy called Jason walked over and said they were not sure if they could move the engine today as the shire council

The three trailers that were donated by Kenner's
insisted that the engine could only move if it was supported by two fire tenders as we were in the start of the fire danger season.

We took a few shots of the train for Trevor and were satisfied that we had done as we were asked and jumped back in the cruiser and around the corner again to a Coffee shop where we ordered two skinny flat white, I was going to type a bit more of the blog and Caroline was going to post some facebook postings

Everywhere is in a frenzy as the West Coast Eagles play Hawthorne in Melbourne today at the MCG in the grand final and most places like cafes and pubs put a big TV up to generate more business, the same applies to life cycle today as some of the riders are being bused to the North Dandalup tavern to watch the game so as were did not have any duties this morning we were officially redundant and decided we would go in to Dwellingup and enjoy a leisurely coffee.

The day was warm and sunny, I grabbed the lap top as I wanted to do some blog work

Our Swag, what a great place for a nights sleep!!
whilst we were drinking our morning coffee’s

Two ladies were sitting across the way from us and they read my Toyota Landcruiser name badged and she asked me “what we were doing in Dwelling up Andy”, to that I said we were assisting with the Life Cycle for Canteen.

We then got in to conversation with these two ladies who’s husbands were walking the Bibblemun track which is one of the worlds longest walks about an 8 week walk from Kalamunda to Albany, which is around about a 1000 kilometres.

We obviously had to give these ladies chapter and verse what we were doing and they very kindly handed us $10.00 towards the charity which was awesome, they were waiting for their husbands to meet them here watch the match, have some lunch then carry on walking.

We finished our coffee and finished our blog work and got up and left, put our stuff back in the truck and got on our way, our next task was to load the GPS coordinates in to the i-pad so w could make our way to the lunch time stop.

When we arrived some riders had just come

You don't need me to tell you what this is. do i
in and some of our members, Brett and Sue) were handing out Icy poles to the riders to cool them down in the hot sun,

The food truck was in full swing and was producing sandwiches and cold drinks for everyone, the time board was up and riders were preparing for he off again, whilst trying to stuff in as much energy in to their bodies as they could

Caroline and I were to man the next check point at whittakers track on the Mundibiddi trail, so we actually left ten minutes before the first lot group riders.

All our water in the fridge was nice and cold and our bags of lollies and chocolates were ready to hand out, we got to the check point set up our chairs and waited in the shade.

We waited for about an hour before the first of our riders came through, some other riders had come through about 15 minutes after setting our chairs up and we excitedly got the cameras out only to find they were not our riders so just waved them on through

The first group of riders came through, drank, ate then left

The old train line in Dwellingup, this is the line we went on a few weeks ago
and soon the other three groups and all been and gone.

We packed up our wares in to the truck and headed off for the last stop of our day which was the footy oval in North Dandalup, where we would be staying tonight.

We found our spot and rolled the swag out put the bedding in and we were set, it would not be late for us tonight.

The local fire fighters, from North Dandalup Rural fire shed were feeding us tonight, they had opened the fire shed and had done us all a BBQ which was just great, as we walked along the food line I felt truly humbled to be served by such amazing people, we passed on our thanks to the fire fighters and their wives or girlfriends and all they would say was no worries wait until breakfast tomorrow

Once dinner was done it was time for all the speeches and thanks then we hung at the back of Mark and Angela’s Landcruiser and broke out the port as we were all just sitting there enjoying the evening

The evening was warm and balmy and the stars were again amazing.
