Day 12
It rained again during the night and is very cold. We decide to explore the camp grounds. We walked to the beach and it was another beautiful area. Great views of the island and granite cliff head at the point that is appropriately named Cliffy Head. There was a beautiful rainbow over the cliff heads, so we took many photos. We paid the camp fees by dropping the envelope into a box. It cost $7.70pp. We then did some off road driving to explore the area. I left the camper behind. The track is small and sandy. It is definitely 4WD. I was driving 4H and the Patrol rode on it well. We went towards Cliffy Head. This has been a highlight for me in this region. You are driving up and down which gives great views and Cliffy Head is fantastic. We tried looking for whales but couldn’t see any. We are still too early for whale season. We drove back and hitch the camper and started driving back towards the highway. We stopped at Crystal Spring’s campsite to re-pump our tyres and check out what we missed out in the campsite. Well we didn’t miss anything. We

headed towards to Norcliffe. We went into the visitor info which will be our agenda each time we come to a new area. WA visitor info centres are great. Everyone so far is friendly and helpful. We got a handful of maps and brochures and decided we will camp Windy Harbour at the D’Entrecasteaux NP 27 kms south of Norcliffe. We stopped at local cafe to get our caffeine hit before heading out to the campsite. Windy Harbour has quite a lot of privately owned beach huts. The camp ground is very grassy with a few shade trees dotted around. They have proper toilets and hot showers. To get hot showers you will need to press a button on the wall and it will give you about 15seconds of water and you cannot adjust the temperature of water. The camp cost $29.50/family plus a $10 deposit for the toilet key. This campsite allows fire and they have collected the fire wood already. This is welcoming as the evenings and nights been too cold to sit around and talk. The beach once again looks great with a few rocky outcrops to do some fishing. Andre caught a fish not worth mentioning again as it was too small. A man was fishing on the rocks with his girls and I saw him pull up 2 King George whiting. I believe our fishing problems lies with using the wrong tackle. Our tackle is too heavy. Everyone we met so far uses very light tackle. That night we had a fire going which allows us to stay up a bit longer and the boys could have some marshmallows.
