Ronnie (was Ruby)
Looks a bit like a cross between a sheep and a toy poodle ... aarrhhh cute. Hello! ... and a very sunny, warm Christmas greetings to all!
Its been a while but we like to save up all our adventures to share with you.. Hope that all of you are well, wrapping up nice & warm for the cold winter months over there in good old UK..?
It seems that everyone we speak to over there has a cold or is just fed up with the rain, do we miss it? Mmmm..
It was officially the 1st day of summer on December 1st over here and we have already been in the high 20 degree band for the majority of the springtime so the tan is already starting.. its going to be a lurvly 36 degree upwards this weekend.. the pool is full and there are a few beers in the fridge ready for the chill out session..
The last blog we did was back in July and I can t believe that it is now December already!
In the last entry, we had just got Stinky (Ang's pig) Tom had been with us for a couple of months, we had bought 6 angora goats - who were possibly pregnant.. yes, 4 of
Mrs CJ at the Peak
We had to take CJ & Nicky to the peak... the views are amazing on a clear day them were and we now have 10 angora goats..
Poodle was 1st to have a Boy named Bambi.. yep, Bambi... when the 1st little one was born Carli named it....we were away on holiday in Thailand/H Kong with Mr & Mrs CJ..
The week before we went to HK we were watching the weather reports as there had been a few storms and heavy rain due to a typhoon over China.. needless to say, the flight was very bumpy and we landed in a Grade 8 typhoon! there were trees and debris all over the place.. and the next day it was back to the HK we know and love... 90% humidity and dry heat!
Doodle Goat was 2nd to launch an offspring.. Daisy, later to become Donald as we realised that Daisy was a BOY
Roodle then joined the parent club with Ruby.. again later to become Ronald - yep we are not very good at this goat sexing job...
Strudle was the last one to pop with 'Shirley' - who has remained as Shirley.. Yeah a girl at last!
We now have another 2 Alpaca - both female, 1 black called 'Image' and 1
The latest baby...
We actually watched her being born.. looks a bit strange when there are 2 long legs sticking out of the back of Mum!!! brown with a white headband called 'Ezra' both of our new girls were purchased when pregnant and in October we also became the proud parents of 'Cliquot' small, black, gangley little Alpaca who actually looked more like a giraffe when she was born as she was all legs and fell around a lot for the 1st few hours.
Ezra is due to have her baby in March.
Stinky looks nothing like the last pictures we added to the blog.. she is now quite large.. raised on a diet of weetabix, milk and fresh fruit (all mixed in a bowl) twice a day with fresh veg and pig pellets scattered around for her to 'snuffle'.. she also has a liking for raisin bread and yoghurt - healthy appetite to say the least! still very cute and loves to play with the other animals..she even barks when running around with the dogs.
Stinky currently runs around and shares her paddock with our very latest editions to the family 'Muzz & Buzz'
a pair of Emus..
We bought these 2 cuties when they were 1 week old from the Perth Royal show.. most people go to the show and come away
Muzz & Buzz
We named these 2 little ones after our favourite takeaway coffee... there are MuzzBuzz kiosks all over Perth where you drive through, get a really nice coffee in a large cup with a straw.. sounds strange to drink coffee through a straw but its ideal when you're driving! with large teddy bears and show bags..
Muzz n Buzz are friendly things and grow very quickly.. they love to roll round in the pigs paddling pool (more like a mud pool) and quite happily sleep under the shade of the tree alongside Stinky.
The dogs are still dysfunctional, mouse (the cat) is a proper farm cat, plays out most of the night and loves to be in the paddocks with the animals at feeding time, sleeps with the dogs and comes running when called.. more like a dog than a cat.
So, we now have a grand total of 22 animals, a small farm!
Carli and Gav arrived early September on a 12 month working visa and have been here for about 4 months now, both working but not saved enough to get a train to the city let alone travel over to Sydney or Bali for a long weekend.. but I am sure they will get there.. there is so much to do and visit here that a weekend away every other week is a must if you are on a visiting visa and want to get to see things.. for those of you who know
Carli goes boating
This is the day the kids went off whale watching.. Carli.. she arrived here with a very large suitcase, was over on her luggage allowance and has spent some time here shopping as well.. so when it comes to going back or moving on, she will need a van let alone a suitcase.. poor Gav will have to cram his stuff into the small case.. similar to the 1 shelf he has here in the wardrobe :-) Girls...!
They have been whale watching just off Rottnest and spent a couple of days exploring some of the nearby tourist things.. good old caversham park.. always gets a vist when the kids are here..!
We all went off sea kayaking last weekend, we set off from Rockingham and paddled across to Seal island, this took about 20-30 minutes in a fairly calm ocean and once there you are not allowed to go any further in than approx 5 metres, as the males are large and very territorial and believe me, you wouldn't want one of these big boys charging at you, whether in or out of your kayack.. after hanging around and watching the large males do pretty much nothing but roll over every 5 minutes or so we headed
over to Penguin island.
This paddle was a little harder, it took about 35-40 minutes and was over slightly more open, deeper and rougher waters - shark water -
There is not much on Penguin island, every now and again as you walk around you will come across a small and shy penguin hiding under a step or in bushland - these small penguins are native to Aus and are about the height of a (fat) magpie. There is an impressive colony of pelicans on the island, lots of lizards and various species of birds and best of all...no snakes!
It was a good day, tiring but good and we are now even more determined to buy a couple of kayaks to play around in on the weekends..
We have been in the house now for just over 18 months and as the pics on the previous blog, we have been doing a 'few renovations' have added a couple of pics so that you all know we are busy and not just lying around in the glorious weather... the kitchen is now finished and minus a hideous pantry.. 95sq metres of flooring laid, theatre room complete including the
Penguin Island
This is not the usual Christmas picture is it?? building of an internal wall and the study is now set up with a glass desk each and a nice Apple mac (Ang's chrissy present)
The garden area is looking good, white picket fence seperating the garden from the 'land' and the paddocks are coming on every week, we must have shares in pine posts by now?
We also have a large trench around the front and one side of the house, somewhat resembling a moat around a castle.. this is in readiness for a spot of wall building, decking and a sunken spa/Jacuzzi round at the side. A 2010 project...
A few messages to finish off with - its getting late on Christmas eve, eve... we are now on holidays until January 4th (yeah, nearly 2 weeks off) both shattered after a very long and tiring month and have lots of outside jobs to get on with tomorrow...
Have a very happy Christmas and a great new year everyone XxX
