Perth doesn't have mountains, only big hills. Gene and I drove up to Araluen Park and Canning Dam. Another crisp, sunny day. It was a bit cooler away from the city. Gene was a little disappointed in the park, but it was nice to be out in nature. There weren't a whole lot of flowers, but it IS winter. The great thing about being in Australia this time of year is that things are relatively peaceful. I'm enjoying the lack of crowds.

After the park we drove over to the dam. I was surprised to see how low the water level is. Now when I have to deal with the rain, I don't mind it so much.

We made our way back to Perth and took in another visit to the beach. A big storm was rolling in so we didn't stay long.

Gene said he used to swim in it when he was a little boy. THAT was a long time ago. Just kidding!

Colorful peppers. Don't they look like Christmas lights?

Duck in Water. Sounds like the name of a painting, doesn't it?

The reservoirs are painfully low due to the long drought. And the recent rain has done little to change things.

These were once very popular to plant in the yard. As you can see the bush fires turn their trunks black; hence, the no-longer-PC name, Black Boys.

Honey, let's take the children down to the beach.
