Which way is quicker to swim home?
Leaving Perth behind we headed to the south western corner of Australia and the Margaret River Region. We have been treated to amazing caves, chocolate, fudge and cheese had a wonderful week.

Our first stop was Busselton and the underwater observatory. Here you walk almost 2 k's along a jetty and then you walk 8 meters down under the sea all without getting wet!! It was ideal for me (H) as I finally got a good look at the underwater world without having to worry about my ears. The view was pretty amazing, there were a fair few fish but my favourite thing was the coral on the columns holding up the jetty. The colours were amazing and made for excellent photos.

After Busselton we headed for Margaret River. Whilst in town we sampled the fudge at the fudge factory, which was rather nice and located a shop that imported chocolate from UK. Even with all the wonderful food in this region you can't beat a bar of Cadbury's, without chemicals to stop the chocolate from melting - 'cos this makes it taste horrible. After the fudge factory we headed south to Leuwin and the point on the coast

I think it has that James Bond feel, like in Octopussy!
where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean and there is a pretty cool lighthouse. We passed on the tour up the lighthouse as the weather wasn't too great.

Instead, we headed for the first of 3 caves we were going to visit (yes mum I did agree to go back down into a cave - H!!). Jewel cave was spectacular. The array of stalactites and stalacmites and other features were pretty awesome and it was pretty well presverved so was still white and looked like fine porcelain. After this we headed for Hamlin bay for the night. After setting up the van we headed for the beach to be greeting at the waters edge by a fairly large stingray. It was literally inches from our feet and later in the evening John got some pretty impressive photos.

The following day we visited the last 2 caves. Lake Cave containing a lake!!! and Mamouth Cave which was pretty big!! This place just keeps getting better and better!

The next day we hunted for the cheese and fudge factory.. Yummy I here you say, cor' crikey is what I say. They were really nice and to my surprise

Hannah actually tried some Brie! I don't think she was too keen judging by the expression on her face! The fudge factory was equally tempting and shortly after we needed a rest from a sugar overload! Later on, not having had enough sugar we found a chocolate factory and started with a chocolate fondue with an assortment of tempting treats to dip into the chocolate.. Yep I (J) think this was the point at which I really had too much sweet stuff and needed some more cheese to balance things up a bit? Hummmm, more cheese Gromit!

And then it was Saturday, time for Skydiving! I met up with a few of the local tribe and headed back down to Augusta. Apparently the local copper had organised a few tandem jumps and the skydiving club had decided that it would be a good idea to bring the plane and instructors to them, cool hay? The guys were really welcoming and I had the privilege to see a pig fly, well I didn't really. "But this one time at band camp..." I banged in 5 jumps which involved chasing after tandems and learning a great deal about camera work (check

out some of the footage). I'm getting a lot better but still along way to go, mainly downwards at great speed! Next the great southern road trip, apparently the same as London to Moscow!
