El Questro is famous for its ***** star resort where all the rich go and pay around $3,000 a night but on the other side we have the camping grounds where all us average people go. Here you are surounded with gorges, hot springs, waterfalls and fishing, but also chopper rides as well.
We stayed here also for 3 nights (prob 1 too many) and got to see everything we wanted, they had a choice of the camp ground which was central or a private site which was about 2km away from main area and your site was about 1/4 acre with a running water stream through it so we chose the private site.
Once we got there we unpacked, had lunch and went for a swim then Axel finally got to go for a ride on his motorbike, then i sat back and said (after being there for 4-5 hours mind you) its too quiet here lets move back 😊. It just felt wrong being so far away from where you know everyone else is.
So our pack-up must have been in record time and we moved up to where the main camp-site was, which we were all much
hapier about.
The only thing we missed was that the people before us at the private site had made a slide going down stream with rocks as side barriers which Ax got a kick out of, but at the main camp there were plenty of kids that we had met through out the gibb and he got to play with them now.
That first night we were there they had a Saturday night buffet special with live music and a man cracking a whip. So we had dinner at home (and saved $70) then went down for the free entertainment. Axel loved the cracking whip but felt fot the backpaker girl who was helping out and got her hand whiped "ouchie".
That night was pretty cold for up here and wasn't so good to wake up to either but knowing that we were going to visit "Zebedee" the hot springs in the morning helped. The water is around 34* all year round and is closed at 12 noon for all the high class people from the resort to visit which suited us on this cold morning. It's was not even a 5 min walk there and once you
reach it its soo worth getting up early for, i think we were there for just about 2 hrs (when we got out we were all wrinkled) There were many seperate pools to choose from so we got 1 all to our selves.
Sunday night was 2hr happy hour from 4-6 so we took advantage of that and had a great night catching up with all our fellow travellers.
Here we also went to Emma's gorge which was a popular 1 but I thought nothing of it compared to others that we had been to. The only thing it had going for it was photos because it was soo leafy green because it only got a little sun which made the water FREEZING!!! Troy got a icecream headache when swimming back from the falls.
We also took a 4WD track to a look-out over the top of a gorge and could see the resort from there. Alot of the ride there was water crossings accross a creek which was all rocks and then once we got to the hills they were atleast on a 40-45% incline. But the view was awesome!!!!
From here we said our good
Axel Graham & Gloria
Axel was given goodbuy gifts from them, a puzzel and T-shirt buys to Graham & Gloria to whome we had done the last week or so together and were very much missed and also the end of "The Gibb River Road"
Gee it felt weird driving on a road again, Troy was going around 80km in a 110km zone and felt he was going fast. LOL!!!!
From leaving the gibb we head for Kununurra our last stop in Western Australia
