(G) Left Broome for Exmouth via the Karajini National Park. Roads in the Park were really quite shocking and gave us our first puncture on the car. Managed to get the spare on (once we had figured out where the Jack was) and continued the journey both covered in Red Dust and looking like we had been tango'd. Now arrived in Exmouth (35 degrees!) for three days. Road Kill Count - Paul, a whole heap of birds now. Glyn, a lizard and a few birds too. Some Piccies attached (Paul was having a bit of a David Bailey moment on Cable Beach) Miss you loads G&PXXX... read more

i just can say that the caribbean beaches are nothing compared to this....really impressive!!!! i never thought that these colors could actually be natural!!! impressive!! my trip up the west coast is being really nice...i'm doing my tour with Western Xposure, and my group is very nice. this part of the country is very very remote and i even have less service on my mobile than in the outback!! less tourists, much more remote...smaller towns...but amazing beaches, really really nice. Istarted my trip from Perth. Perth is a big modern town, with a fanstatic atmosphere...lots of cafes and restaurants, really nice. i met come local guys i spent the afternoon with, very very nice, friendly, showed me around...australian people are extremly nice... The tour itself involves a lot of driving, a very monotonous landscape, but amazing ... read more

Just a little one cos we have found a free internet thing in Albany - not sure we're actually supposed to be using it though! Keep our heads down and hopefully we can knock this one out. I think I left you last time as we had just finished our northwards travel up to Exmouth We found a place to stay almost straight away as it was getting dark and tis a bit dodgy driving around at night with all of the roos and emus wandering about the joint. The caravan park seemed really nice and they gave us a discount because of our travellers cards - awesome. After checking in we went in search of some supplies in the massive city of exmouth which we had driven a thousand kilometres to get to. 10 mins ... read more

Alright I promise this will be the last edition of the Spring Break road trip…sorry Easter break. I believe we were on the boat and chasing after the whale sharks last I left off. Our group of friends, there was nine of us I think were part of Group 2, so we watched as Group 1 got geared up and waited on the back of the boat. They jumped in and we took off to move ahead of the shark, unfortunately just as we jumped in he or she started to swim down so we only got a brief glimpse but it was still enough to get the excitement going again. It was huge and the next time we would be real close and everyone was talking and excited…I believe the word is giddy. Unfortunately the ... read more

This was the first time we did our dive in the ocean, went really well. We saw loads of different fish...even a wobbygong shark, a while tipped reef shark, an octupus, a lionfish - which are really cool cause they have all these kinda feathers coming in and out of them. We also saw loads of turtles - and one was taking a bath! And on the second dive I literally dropped on a sea snake...and it spent the whole time winding itself in and around me...was so mad! And they can poison you if you annoy them....was completly surreal. The water was really really choppy though and my class spent the whole trip back hanging of the back of the boat being sick. Dunno why I was fine but I really enjoyed the boat ride ... read more

Started our Open Water Course today with Exmouth Dive Centre. The first day didn't go too well as I absolutely paniced and couldn't pass my swim OR float test! However, I went out for a few beers that night with a few from our caravan park (that we now refer to as our home; as we have a little caravan just for the three of us), and I felt better about the prospect of passing....which I totally did with flying colours the next day. We also had to pass a medical, which was one of the funniest processes I have ever undergone.... read more

Today we got a boat to swim with whale sharks...which not only are the biggest shark but also the biggest fish in the world! We got on the boat and were told that we would just drive out to a dive site, so the divers could do their dive and we could have a snorkel, and get used to hearing directions for when we would swim with the whale shark. So that was fine, the divers got ready and literally just hit the water - and managed to drop right on top of a whale shark! All we heard was "whale shark, whale shark - get ready", so instead of the normal first snorkel etc we literally just jumped in on a whale shark...it was so exciting. You have to sit on the back of the ... read more
