For the past few weeks I have been communicating with Nicola and Dee in New Zealand to organise a surprise for Jess. Yesterday I picked the girls up from the airport and drove to Jessica's house. Jess was expecting a surprise, but she had no idea that it would include Nic and Dee! Jess was very surprised and it was great to catch up again. The last time we were together was in London over a year ago. Last night we had a great night out in the city.
This afternoon (once we had recovered from last night) we caught the train to Flinders Street Station. From here we caught a tram towards St Kilda. Jess and I thought that this would be a nice place to be on a sunny Sunday. I was looking forward to browsing the esplanade market and then visiting a coffee shop in Acland Street for a soy latte and cake! Acland Street is very well known for many cake shops with a huge variety of cakes. When we got closer to St Kilda there was a message on the tram saying that the service was terminating at the next stop due to an

As we walked along Fitzroy St we noticed a very diverse crowd and then the posters along the street. It was a gay pride march, so there were some very colourful characters in and out on the street of the cafes and bars.
We finally arrived at the esplanade and walked along, checking out the original craft stalls. I saw a ceramic bell in the shape of a kangaroo and thought it would make a nice gift for Paul's parents. At the end we came to a large smiling face- Luna Park. Luna Park is an amusement park. I have never been here before. Entrance is free. So we walked around and decided to come back tomorrow when we would be feeling 100%.
We were very close to our destination when we came across a grassy area with people performing the Brazilian martial arts dance called Capoeira. We sat on the grass for a while and watched them.
By now it was definitely time for some food. We came to the beginning of Acland St. Being strong, we walked past all the cake shops to find some

The next place on our tourist trail was to go for a walk along the beach. It was a short walk with a long rest. It was really nice to sit in the sun among the atmosphere. The cakes were calling us, so we walked back to Acland St and struggled to choose a cake shop. They all looked so good. We choose one that had a table for us to sit at. It took us a while to decide which one to choose. Finally we choose, paid way too much and concluded that they okay, nothing amazing. Seems like we choose the wrong cake shop. Shall have to try again another day. Nearby there was a tram stop, so we waited for a tram to take us to Flinders Street Station. From there we caught a train back to Jess's house and spent the night on the couch watching TV and eating again.
