Woodsthorpe Pub
Dad/Clemo this photo is just up your alley! When travelling around this great country of ours, you must visit a country pub or two . The owner was a young woman (Deb) who left Melbourne City and decided to purchase this pub about 6 weeks. Whitewashed walls and very Irish...to be sure to be sure to be sure..... Hi All
Thought it was about time I added to the blog again. The Great Ocean Road is a great trek. After our family history tour in Birchip, Donald, Chiltern and Rutherglen located North West of Victoria, it was time to head to the coast. Our first stop was Ararat where we stayed overnight for some free camping. Free camping put simply is free camping, designated areas you can stay at where your van must be self sufficient;own power source, toilet and shower. This particular night we stayed next to a large lake; there were other vans/campers at the same site which I know Jill will be happy to hear :-) Not fond of Ararat but we did get a good take away coffee which is very important to Q Man and myself as you can imagine. It's quite humorous, any town we arrive at, we screen all the cafes and decide which one we think will make the best coffee. At least 4 requirements need to be met; ambiance; the wand on the manual group to be cleaned; when stretching and rolling the milk there is to be no screaming; they have to look like serious baristas :-) :-) (You
Port Campbell
This is the only place you can swim safely on the Great Ocean Rd. It was established in the 1870's and named after Captain Alexander Campbell who was in charge of whaling in Port Fairy. Did you know this limestone coast was formed 10-20 million years ago by millions of tiny marine animal skeletons. This coastline has been pounded by wild seas and fierce winds and sculpted towering rock stacks. coffee snobs know what I mean). Anyway thank god for a good coffee fix. We headed down to Koroit, Port Fairy (a cute little Irish Town), Warrnambool (Louise and Brians old haunt), Apollo Bay, Lorne and then up to Melbourne. Hope you like the pics and hope its a little interesting to you all. Thanks to all of you who are leaving comments which I have replied to.
