Prime spot on the Yarra, managed to fit in some before the party sunbathing!
After all the fun of Xmas was over, it was time to get down and do some serious leisure activities. Days out, to a wildlife park and of course days at the beach.

We went to a wildlife sanctuary, where you could get up close and personal with some aussie animals, koala's, kangaroos, wallabys, crocs, snakes and other variety of wildlife. It was very good and you were allowed to go up to the roos and feed them, the kids really loved that.

We also managed to get up close to some Koala's, who were all very cute and cuddly. It was a very hot day, so ice creams and drinks essential.

Later, in the week, we planned to go to the family firework display in Melbourne CBD, as part of the new year celebrations. The city puts on two fireworks displays, one at 8pm for families/kids and another at midnight for everyone else. We knew it would be busy, but we thought it's one of those things you just gotta do, so we made our way into the city. Katie, Karl, the kids and mum were already in the city, so we joined them at a prime

spot on the Yarra river edge. What a beautiful night, clear skys and not too chilly for sitting by the river!

It was absolutely jam packed, hundreds-of-thousands of people were lining the riverside, as the fireworks are let off from big barges on the river and from the tops of the big skyscrapers in the city. There was lots of entertainment on as well, for the kids and plenty to do and keep the kids amused. Everything was free (apart from your food), and it was a great atmosphere.

The light faded and the sky became dark the fireworks went off. They were excellent (sorry about the photo's). My camera has broken, didn't really recover from our trip to Torquay, so it wasn't working very well and not won't work at all!

After the fireworks, we tried to make our escape from the city, but it was absolutely packed everywhere. When we made it to the train station, it was absolutely packed with people trying to get home, but hey the trains were free too, so you can't complain!!!

We managed to get home just in time for midnight, and we opened a bottle of bubbles,
