Hi everybody hope u all had a good Christmas & New Year, sorry its late we bin busy moving in and around sydney!!! Anyway we have alot to put as we have not updated since before Christmas!!! We had a cool Christmas day on the beach with sausage sandwiches & a cup of wine for our Christmas dinner!! It was very strange being on the beach tho & we missed you all loads! The beach was so busy tho - its wierd to see how another country celebrates Christmas - totally different to us! So, Christmas day was quite quiet as our hostel was scally heaven (their idea of fun was smashing trolleys into the wall?!) On Boxing Day we watched the Sydney to Hobart boat race start which was cool - the biggest boat race in the world we think! We then went to Bondi Beach which was much nicer than we expected but so packed! In the evening we went over to Kings Cross which is the red light district of Sydney but has a few good bars etc! Were some sights to see - mainly in knee high boots & bras (sadly we have no pics!!!) We went
C-wizzle & Lozzle
Biggin it up in the Blue Mountains! into the Australian Museum which was really good - had a photography exhibition on which was really good - Emily u wouldve liked it! Also, went to the cinema to see The Golden Compass - nice Christmassy, 'for all the family', fun (Liz u would like it!) Then it was my Birthday & we went off to the Blue Mountains (about 2hrs on the train from Sydney) Stayed in Katoomba and we got a bus pass which went round to all the sights. First we went on the worlds steepest railway which goes down the cliff at a 55 degree angle into the rainforest below - it was pretty cool! We walked thru the rainforest & then went back up again on a cable car. The scenery was amazing, just miles & miles of forest, & it was so quiet & relaxing - one of the prettiest places we've seen in Australia! Went out for a Birthday meal & I got my pressies (a gorgeous handmade glass pendant & a little koala bear!) The next day we went to Jenolan Caves - one of the biggest limestone cave networks in the world. There are about 8 caves there but we
just went into two of them - it was cool with lots of different rock formations. One of them even has concert cave where they have live orchestra & we saw the broken column (the most photographed rock formation!) Among the sights we saw a wierd schitzo who was on our trip & talked to himself all the way thru - at one point Chris thought he heard voices in his head! (I'm not convinced they werent there tho!) We also saw the blue lake which was amazing - the water looks bright blue coz of the minerals in the water from the caves. All in all I had a great birthday!
So back in Sydney we spent a day on the beach then it was New Years Eve and we were off to the Botanic Gardens at 10am to get a good spot! Sounds crazy we know but when we got there the queue was already bout a mile long! Met up with Katie who we met at Kruger so was good to catch up. Just spent the day in the park - had a picnic & plenty of wine!! The family fireworks came on at nine which
were really good and then the big ones at midnight - the whole bridge was lit up, there were boats all the way along the harbour & even rockets comin from the towers! It was amazing & the atmosphere was ace! And I got a big surprise when Chris popped the question to which I said yes (although I think evry1 in the whole world knew already!!!) Was a great way to start the new year and definately something we will never forget!
So now we are in 2008 & we finished our time in Sydney with a trip to the zoo - was pretty cool coz its built on a hill on the other side of the harbour so it overlooks the city. We then flew over to Melbourne on the 3rd. Stayin with Laura's Uncle Lesley & his wife Vera - theyve been great making us feel extemely welcome. Spent the weekend at their beach house which is in Rye on the Mornington Pennisula - was a really pretty coastline with amazing views. Ate & drank alot (think they're feeding us up!) Got back to the city on Sun night & spent yesterday sorting out some stuff
& had a wander round South Yarra which is where they live. Over the next few days we have booked a trip to see the Great Ocean Road and will be checking out the sights, we also looking into the Neighbours Tour so watch ya ass Karl Kennedy and Harold Bishop!!! We were chuffed to hear from you over the festive season it was great, so thanks for the messages and cards!!!
Our next update will be when we are in New Zealand (flyout on monday) our 5th stop on our travels which we both say is going so quick soon we will be back to crap weather but will be with our Family and friends and will bore u with our stories hehe!! Until then keep well miss u all lots xxx
