Australia - Melbourne
St Pauls church near federation square. Nike and Nat:
We arrived in Melbourne at 6am on a cold freezing morning, sitting next to the homeless guys at the Hungry Jacks (aussie burger king) we really werent impressed. But after a hot chocolate and a breakfast bun we were ready to see what Melbourne had to offer, and it offered a lot......
For us to tell you everything we did and our thoughts on Melbourne would take ages, and the Brisbane Library only lets me on for an hour but il do my best to fit everything in!
Melbourne is a really modern and pretty massive city very cosmopolitan and full of life. One of the best parts of Melbourne is the buskers and street performers from rappers to bmxs to crazy men with home made drumkits and our favourite.... cursing crazy Irish houdini wannabe!!! There are some real cool restaurants, museums and art gallerys. We tried to go to everything we could. The first few nights we stayed with Pete and his friends just outside the city and right by Melbourne zoo!!! They were so nice and the first day took us to a Turkish restaurant, museum of victoria and Eureka tower.

St Pauls church near federation square. We also went out for dinner and had some delish fish and chips!
The sights of Victoria
*Federation square - Federation square is quite a strange looking little place. In between old buildings including a church and a train station a lot of people would say it is ugly. We disagree! This is where the ACMI (Australian centre of moving image) is and the Aboriginal art gallery, there are also a few swanky cafes and bars.
*Eureka tower - This was a huge, sky-scraping building with 88 floors! We went right to the top and got some brilliant photos. It was pretty scary though!
*Melbourne zoo - Melbourne zoo was so good!!! They had everything there and that's where we witnessed our first koala!! It wasn't as good as we thought it would be to be honest, there was only one and it took us a while to spot it and once we did it was half asleep and didn't do much. I'm not sure what we were expecting (a dancing koala would of been nice)! Everything else came alive though, the tigers were playing, the orangutan's were fighting, the lions were roaring, it was ace!!!

Flinders street railway station We also had a picnic there and all the birds attacked us, especially the pelican! It was a brilliant day out.
*Ramsey Street - home of Neighbours!!!, or as i like to call it Mecca, to be honest it was pretty small and kinda boring but a picture of me in Ramsey street (holding a wombat teddy!) was definatly worth all the women in the local chemist laughing at me when i asked for directions!
*Winery and Brewery - We went to these with Kat and her mum. We had a brill time, they took us all over Mornington Peninsula, where there were some stunning views! The winery was my fave, the wines were delish, i even bought one!!! After this brilliant day we went back to Kats and her mum made the best roast ever, it was so yum!
*Cirque De solei-This was amazing one of the best gigs/circus/events we have EVER been to, it really was worth the $50 we paid plus we got moved to the VIP section. I cant explain how amazing the show was, breathtaking and beautiful, and very funny!!!!
*Telstra Dome - This is where we watched our
first Australian footie match, it was brilliant! We watched the Hawthorns Vs Carltons. One of our friends who we met in Europe, Kat had a friend who played for the team, Anthony and he got us in and got us seats right near the front! We had a great time. The atmosphere was electric!
*The immigration museum - This was in the city, it wasnt that good but we met up with Aarthi and Prithi who made the day great, we also went for a hot choc afterwards!
*The great ocean road- Well, this was absolutley miraculous. Anthony drove us down and we also stayed with him at his grandads, he had a beautiful place right near the beach (was a bit too cold to go to the beach though). There was us, Anthony, Kate and kat and after a good sleep we headed over to the twelve apostles (huge beautiful mounds of rocks). We had a brilliant day, Ant drove us all down the great ocean road, was amazing.
*Camping and hiking - We went camping with Simmo and Al. and we had a brilliant time, although it was soooo cold!!! As soon as we
got there we spotted loads of Roos everywhere, we took so many photos lol It was so strange seeing them just hopping about! That night we started a camp fire, ate pasta and listened to music. After we roasted marshmellows :D The day after we were up bright and early to go hiking! We had a picnic before we hit Mount difficult (that was the proper name for the mountain) and half way through we had a guest! A wild kangaroo came out of no where and tried to steal our food, we fed it but with leaves and he wasnt fooled. We loved it, English tourists we are!!!
We thought Mount difficult would be easy, we were like yeah it will be childs play, we struggled so much!!! The views were so beautiful and were worth the struggle though! It took us about 4 hours to get up and then back down, it was pretty hard to do and we realised how unfit we really are!!!
We also stayed with Simmo and Andy for over a week and had a brill time with them. They took us out to experience the night life, had many marathons of

View of St pauls church from Federation square Scrubs, had a bbq, ate cake at St Kilda and made shepherds pie :D Good times!
We stayed and met up with some brilliant people! And if it wasnt for them none of the things we did would have been possible!! Thanks to them!!
Melbourne is probably our fave place so far in Australia :D
