I made it safe and sound to Australia and have just been taking it easy these last few days. This is the beach where all the big surfing competitions are held. The surf is't too high yet but as winter progresses, the waves will become massive.

We stopped at a macadamian nut farm for a lot of free samples of the very delicious nuts. They even had a wasabi coated nut which wasn't really my cup of tea but interesting to try. Off to the side was a guy selling coconuts and was using a machete to open the top. You then finish the liquid inside and he finishes the carving of the rest of the coconut. Very tender and tasty!

Constructed entirely without nails and was built to commemorate the first japanese immigrants. It is a scale representation of the one in Japan so can't wait to see the original since it was quite impressive.

Battleship where Japan surrendered in WW2. Didn't take a tour of the ship so just a shot from the side of the bay.

This is what's left of one of the gun turrets.

You can see the oil leaking from the ship. The drops are coming out every 10 seconds or so.

This is a memorial for the world trade centers. You can see the 2 white lines on the memorial which represent the 2 towers.

There are 8 pillars along the sides to represent the 8 islands. The water on both sides is to represent the islands surrounded by water.

This burns across the street from the state capital building and is a tribute to all those who served in the armed forces.
