And then there were eight!
This is a picture of the front cover of the newspaper telling everyone that one of the 12 Apostles had crashed. So now all of my photos are out of date. lol Greasy fish and chips.
A long day ahead of us.
Feeling real bloated.
A jam packed day lies ahead of us today. First up, was a series of small walks. We arrived at Tarra Bulga National Park this morning for a couple of walks. We walked up to the suspension bridge. It was a pretty boring suspension bridge. Mind you what was I expecting...the Capilano Suspension Bridge? haha At least it could have swung at least a little bit! After the bridge we took a "scenic" track which just took us back to the parking lot! So we went onto the Ash track that would lead us to the Visitors Centre. It was pretty chilly out and we kept stopping so I was finding it hard to get warmed up. Once we hit the lovely rainforest of the Ash Track I decided to pick up the pace a little since the group was walking at a painstakingly slow pace. Twelve minutes later I was at the Visitor's Centre that was unfortunately closed. Bummer.
Now we're driving for a couple more hours to our lunch spot at the Lake Entrance near 90 Mile Beach. We preordered our fish and chips
A few predinner drinks in the room.
Back row: Mary Donna Lucy
Front row: Sarah Ashley Emma and Bonnie for lunch and I can just taste the grease now! Most of us will be getting the one piece of fish with chips for $5.65. I find that pretty reasonable for a heart attack wrapped in paper. I can't wait!
Ugh. It is now after the grease feast and I'm sure feeling it in the pit of my stomach now! Oh yeah and so much for pre-ordering. They just started the fry up when we showed up! I think they were rushing a bit too because it was all pretty greasy. Some people's fish wasn't even properly cooked...the batter still wet! Lucky for me, the piece I had was okay. About eight of us squeezed onto a picnic bench. It was really funny when everyone had their packets open and we could barely see one another because there was so much paper on the table. lol Then Emma and Ashley started throwing their excess batter and chips at the seagulls. Mistake! Boy are those guys vicious! “You've gotta throw it further so that the seagulls will congregate closer to the other picnic bench!”
Still feeling greased out we then moved onto a winery for some wine tasting. There
A few post dinner drinks by the fire.
Back row: Catherine SArah
Front row: Mary Emma Ashley Donna Bonnie were at least ten wines and three ports to try. I wasn't up for drinking so I declined and saved myself $2. LOL They had one white wine called "Booblia" or something like that and boy were there a lot of joke made about that one. Apparently it was a good one (or perhaps cheap) because several people seemed to go for that one when purchasing wine.
Some people wanted to go check out the caves but I didn't want to shell out $12.50 to see more caves. Plus I was still feeling a little greased out and decided to take a little nap on the bus...but after an ice cream break first - double chocolate. Now that's Heaven!
Then it was a short drive to our accommodations at Ontos/Buchan Retreat. There were nice four bed dorms BUT the water was just freezing! For dinner we had a fabulous veggie dinner. Gotta love that pumpkin! Oh and rumour has it there will be marshmallows at the campfire tonight. 😊
I went for a bit of a night time walk about with Susan, Arna, Paul and Nick (or as Susan put it, four Canadians and Nick.) We were hoping to see some amazing wildlife at night but didn't see anything. We did see some amazing stars and some stars were pointed out to me as well. Thommo tried explaining how to find "due south". Not as easy as up North where you look up at the North Star and there it is! lol Finding due south requires some mathematical terms...find the Southern Cross...then make a perpendicular...whoa, whoa, whoa! Just give me a compass. LOL
Also around the campfire we started playing a game that went round the fire. It started off with one person saying "Yeeha" in one direction. Then if you say "Hoe down" the direction of "Yeeha" changes. Then if you say "Hay Barn" it skips one person. "Shebang, Shebang" skips two people. Then there was "Milkmaid" (where you stand up and hold your boobs and the last person standing is the loser) and one other one where you stand up and point to some one and say "...." I won't put it in here since there is a bit of offensive language used...and the game continues from that point. Anyway, you get the idea. It was quite amusing, especially when some of the not so sober participants were all confused. Most of the "punishments" for losing were to do animal impersonations. There was one where Kumar lost and he had to kiss someone and tell them something nice or a pick up line. So Kumar got up, kissed Cat on the cheek and said, "Meet you behind the bush." LOL
Sitting by the fire was nice and warm. Well, at least for the part facing the fire. My backside on the other hand was not so warm...
