The busy port city of Hobart lies between the foothills of Mount Wellington and the ocean. Pat and I stayed two nights at the Travelodge in Hobart. This hotel has a very good central location within walking distance of shopping, the Battery, Salamanca Market and many restaurants. The breakfast buffet is decent and the service friendly. The rooms that we booked are smaller than I would have liked. We had a hard time finding a place to put and unpack our suitcase. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Larger rooms with kitchenettes are available. The complementary covered garage is very secure. The hotel was a very good value. Just a few blocks away is the Shamrock Hotel and Pub. We went there to have a light dinner but the portions were much larger than we expected and the food was quite good.
The panorama shows Hobart taken from Mount Wellington when the clouds parted for a brief moment.
