Me and my mate at Penguin

Climbed through Freycinet National Park to ‘Wineglass Bay’ apparently one of the finest beaches in the world. Stunning. Camped at Friendly Beaches - and shared our dinner location with the local wallaby population. Weather gorgeous and hot

Heading down towards Port Arthur where the convicts were held. Campsite full tonight so stayed at Lime Bay - fabulous pitch overlooking the sea. All for $12 - first time we have paid in 4 nights! Freezing today, sun shining, but I am glad of the fleece I bought yesterday. Wish I had my thermal leggings!

Went to Port Arthur today. Supposed to be sad and haunting as it tells the story of the convicts miserable life. Think you need to be Australian to think this way though - as the countryside is stunning and they only got sent there if they persistently offended. Quite frankly, if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
Sat up until dark on the rocks and watched the fairy penguins coming in to feed their chicks - just us and the penguins, awesome.

Elephant seal pup - one of only 3 such seals in Tasmanian waters

Barry & Margaret wild camping
(should be in Antarctica) on the rocks around from the camp. So went to say hello - he looks a bit rough as he is in moult apparently. Only the second pup known in Tassie according to the Ranger.
Camped at Seven Mile Beach, just short of Hobart - a proper site with electricity and showers - arhh!

Trust that you atre both well.Average temps sound a bit rough.Cold season I guess, but trust that it will improve .There are real variables from what we can gather in the climate depending where you go.Looking forwards now to following your adventures you super people. Enjoy , you deserve it... Pete and Frances
