After a bit of a cool night we got away a little later than the current norm, which was pleasant. In fact we’ve pulled up somewhere near the Colson Track crossroad at around 3pm for an afternoon of beer and bullshit.

We have had a bucket load of fun today. We hit the Simpson Desert officially and have started the up and down, side to side of dune driving. I spent the majority of the day in low range second gear, so we were doing around 20kph for a lot of the trip. To tell the truth I was not expecting the difficulty of the offset bumps which gave us the side to side motion and slowed us right down. A little lesson for me.

There isn’t a lot to tell about today except that the driving was great fun but slow. Some massive dunes and interesting landscape, albeit the lack of wildlife is a little unusual. All I have seen today is three little lizards and a hawk.

Tomorrow we are going to try to head up to Poepell Corner but we probably won’t get that far. Never fear, we’ll enjoy ourselves anyway.
