Day 259 - Eden Valley We love the sound of engines in the morning so today we hurtled out of bed to meet Russ and his fellow vintage motorcycle enthusiasts at the service station in Tununda. The group was a fair size and the bikes very impressive. Some of them have been rebuilt whereas some are standard and been owned from new. Their plan this morning was to take a short ride through Eden Valley and then back to the trip leaders home for breakfast. Off they zoomed and we arranged to meet Russ at his home early this afternoon where we'll also get to meet the lovely Marion. We shot back to the showground for a shower and a bit more of a catch up with the blog plus Dar tried to catch the bikes ... read more

Day 258 - Eden Valley (including a trip out to Norton Summit in the Adelaide Hills) There’s something different about this morning when we wake up, something that definitely tells us we’re not in the UK … oh yes, that’s right, it’s already 33 degrees at 8am! Today is going to be fiercely hot and everyone has been telling us to just stay put for the day and not bother going out anywhere. However we have plans and none of them involve sitting around! Siggy was an early arrival to the showground this morning, his cleaning duties were calling him here and of course the collection of our camp fees for the next couple of days. We chatted about where we’d been and what we’d seen, offered him some eggs but he’s got his own chooks ... read more

Day 257 - Day trip to Hahndorf from Eden Valley Gosh it’s warm even in the early morning at the moment. We’ve hit on the time of year where South Australia is having the temperatures ramped right up and the weather forecasters are predicting 40+ degree heat for the next few days. Needless to say we thought it would be safe to hang the washing out on the line while we were out and about today, there doesn’t seem to be much danger of rain just at the moment! Whilst I mucked around with the blog, Darryl prepared a delicious looking picnic lunch for us to enjoy with Jacquie later on. With all of us on a travellers budget and no income we figured it’s far better to picnic than café dine although that probably won’t ... read more

Day 256 - Eden Valley and the surrounding area Our alarm went off at six this morning, I’ve no idea what my reasoning was for setting it so early but before I could give it too much thought we’d both nodded back off for a quick half an hour! We won’t be able to do that for much longer so we’re just making the most of it while we can. Within two hours we were up, showered, dressed and ready for a bit of exploring so headed to the new scenic lookout just up the road in Eden Valley. It’s beautiful and gives us some great views. The local walking community look to have put a lot of effort into making it a bit more comfortable to spend time up here with the extra seating and ... read more

Day 255 - Naracoorte to Eden Valley We wake up feeling very pleased with ourselves this morning after a blissfully peaceful night’s sleep. The sun is already high in the sky and the only drama we’re faced with is where we should head to next as yet again we’re undecided. Our spot here at Naracoorte is just great, nice views over the countryside and plenty of walks to do on our doorstep but the location of this little haven is miles from anywhere else we had planned to visit at this moment in time so really we should move on. It seems we did a good, thorough job of unpacking the caravan yesterday so it takes us a bit longer to put everything back where it belongs before we hop into the glorious showers and then ... read more
