South Australia and Southern Ocean Road Trip

We were sad in many ways to leave Adelaide. Such a great city and we really enjoyed our 3 days there.
But now onto the next part of our big adventure and the Great Ocean Road from South Australia to Melbourne awaits.....

Day 1. Friday 6th Feb. Picked up our VW Camper van. Got an upgrade to a virtually new vehicle and a refund of half day rental as we had to wait an extra hour for it to be prepared ?

Left Adelaide early afternoon for short drive due south to Victor Harbour. Hoped to spot whales and dolphins but none to be seen. Headed eat a few km to Port Elliot for 1st over night stop. Beautiful little bay with fine sandy beach. Very calm and peaceful. Would like to stay longer but we are heading toward Robe today for our next stop. Still a long way to go ☺

Feb 7th
Robe overnight. Wild Mulberry cafe for brekkie. Lovely. Short drove to Beachport for one night stop. Photos to follow.

Feb 8th

Good site in Beachport but turned cold late afternoon. Cooked our stir fry on communal BBQ and chatted with a group of Aussi veterans of the Vietnam war. with their wives they meet up somewhere every year. 29 of them. Good fun and nice to swap travel stories. cold night ?

Feb 9th.

Brighter and warmer morning. Left beautiful Beachport and headed south east passing Milicent and Mt. Gambier and stopped in Portland for lunch in the campervan beside a nice park. Made tracks in the afternoon and found lovely campsite in Port Fairy. Staying 2 nights. Had great steak and roast veg dinner in the Victoria Hotel.
