G'day mate,
As our flight left late in the evening in Bali and the time difference was 3 hours, so we ended up not really having much sleep so when we finally arrived in Adelaide in oz we were shattered. However, our first impressions were really good. Even at the airport everyone spoke asking where we were off to and have a nice time. They are all so friendly. Our first task was to get ourself a campervan for the next day. We went direct to 2 companies near the airport who are popular called Britz and Maui. However they were more expensive than the quotes we got online a few months back. We really did think it would be cheaper than online, they only had 1 van aswell and it was a bit crap to be honest. So, we went back online to check for others. The hostel we were staying in was a YHA and was really well equipped with kitchens, pool tables etc. But, it cost us 21 pounds each for one night, so a camper would be roughly the same but with the extra bonuses of not having to lug our stuff around and we had
so much space!
this was the first thing we noticed. the freedom to go where we wanted. After lots of emails and phonecalls we secured an apollo camper, which, had a stove, microwave, fridge, bed and sink - pretty cool actually!
Now that was done we had a day and a half before we could get it, so we started to have a look around the city. The skywas bright blue not a cloud in sight and temps were meant to be getting to 36 degrees over the next few days. However, we were'nt sweating, no more humidity! For a city, Adelaide isn't very big but it is still really nice, there isn't loads of nice like in most cities. It was more like a home from home but with better weather and alot of space. That evening, Rob and I set about cooking our first meal in over 3 months and it was actually really nice. We had been to central market and got some bits, which you label and then store in one of the kitchens massive fridges.
The morning came to pick up our camper so we carried all of our things to the bus stop and then onto the bus for the last time
central market..
one of adelaides tourist attractions. in a while. We were well chuffed when we got into the van, packed all our stuff away and then made our way to a campsite near the beach, oh what a life! What more could you want, some beers and wine chiling in the fridge, the beach and the sunshine. The beach is beautiful with soft white sand and clear blue water, although it's not as warm as in Asia. That night Rob got sick and was shaking uncontrolably, saying he was cold, although it was too hot to wear clothes! He was poorly all night so we stayed up together until nearly morning as he felt so bad. The next morning we went straight to the doctors where they said he had a bad tummy bug. He had an injection and got given tablets. At least we were somewhere where everyone spoke English. We were meant to be heading to the Barossa Valley for wine tasting this day, so we postponed it until Rob was feeling better. Unfortunately, only Rob can drive the van as he is over 21 so that's a bit annoying for us.
Anyways party on everyone..until next time
