It is just under 4 weeks till my trip to Spain to walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela.
I am in the process of making final prepartions including my fitness. In particular,
I gave my leg a bit of a try over a two week period and feel it fared quite well.
I managed to walk 130km over 10 days, an average of 12km.
I am pleased with this achievement and feel I will be able to average 15 to 20km a day depending of
the terrain and weather.
Much better that I thought I would do since I broke my leg (Spiral Tibia and Fibular compound fractures).
One photo is of the fracture and the other when it was plated and pinned. T
he plate and pins were removed about 18 months later (May 08).
I walked with 6.9kg in my backpack and between 2 to 2.5kg in front pack, a total of about 9.4kg in
weight including food and water.
I thought I might show you what my leg looked like.
Of course my trusted little companion loves the walks and is always eager to get out and into the hills.
Her name is Missie.
