Well it's 2am not able to get back to sleep after dismantling ratteling clothesline, it's a bit windy here tonight. We had a good day, day 2 in Karumba. There is not a lot to do here, a good place to chill out and rest up for a while, which we are doing. Slept in this morning, Jim and I didn't have breakfast until 10am. After we finished breakie (a bacon toasted sandwich) a lady camped next to Alan & Jane popped over with some fillets of fresh caught fish for all of us, what a treat. We were going to have them for dinner but Jim had seen a sign down the road "live mud crabs for sale" - so we all bought muddies and got a free stubbie cooler for each crab we bought. There were large and small crabs $20 and & $30 Jim and I got a large one it was huge. The people selling them loaned us a large pot for cooking them in as we weren't prepared for that. A really nice couple. We cooked them up following their written instructions and had them as an "entree". We didn't cook the fish - the crab

Would like to say that I caught them - but no I didn't.
was enough, the best we have ever eaten. It will be fish for breakfast in the morning. We all caught up on some washing and set up the coffee bar which has been a real hit (Ryan and Erin bought me a pod coffee machine for Mothers day) and the coffee is better than any coffee we have bought out west. Alan drove Jane, Jim and I into town later in the morning - it's about 6 kilometers from where we are staying. There is just a bakery, a small supermarket, a Pharmacy, and a pub with a bottle shop. While we were there we drove around checking the place out and found Karumba port facility owned by MMG Century Zinc mining. It's where the zinc concentrate slurry is exported from after being pumped through a 30cm in Diameter pipeline 324 kilometers long. A single pump station at Lawn Hill pressurises the slurry providing the driving force to propel the product to reach Karumba, the first 80 ks is uphill the remaining 224 ks is about 1 degree down hill. (Just for anyone who is interested.) A little bit more going on in Karumba than just a sleepy fishing village. Alan topped up with fuel on our way back 20cents a litre cheaper than at Cloncurry, surprisingly. Went to bed around 9pm after watching a couple of episodes of Biily Connollys world tour of Australia - dvds pretty old made in 1995. Well it's 3am and it has started raining, and I am finally feeling sleepy.
