Thursday Island

Hello,Carissa and I have arrived in one piece after a days travel to the extreme north of Australia after a brief tour via Cairns. Thursday island is as predicted pretty warm with high temperatures and humidity, having said that you do however get a sea breeze most of the time and mangos grow on pretty much every tree in time and they are just about to come into season which is just aswell seeing as food and produce on the island is pretty much double that of what you pay at home. Our digs are quite luxurious consiting of a 2 bedroom house with all the usual mod cons fortunatley that includes aircon. The locals seem a pretty easy going bunch in fact as we've witnessed things operate on TI time up here - that is 2 hours - 5 hours after the scheduled time or sometimes not at all. Carissa is working at the pharmacy which is a stones throw from where we live. I was planning for labouring but after expierincing the heat am much happier to report I am Thursday Island Retrovision's latest star recruit.We have been warned not to swim at the beach due tot he legitimate threat of crocodiles fortunatley there is a local pool and gym which we have joined so that should keep us entertained. We will post another update after we have adapted to life in TI. Hoo Roo.
