Keeping up with our walking it was back into town – this time to the Birdsville Bakery. We had heard about their famous curried camel pie and thought “there’s lunch”. Their cinnamon doughnuts weren’t bad either, just LARGE, so we only needed one.

As we shared the doughnut over a morning cup of tea/coffee in the “parkland” outside the Tourist Info centre we got talking to 6yr old Elyse. Her parents were nearby and apparently her mum said to her dad “she’ll be on their table in a minute”. Sure enough she was. She told us, amongst other things, that she was going to the Bash with her mum and dad and then decided she would save us a spot next to them. We’d easily know it was her because they “are in a caravan with a white car and a black bumper thingy”. Bless her, that will surely narrow it down – haha.

Postscript: The verdict is in on the camel pies – we give them a 3/3 camel rating: very tasty, very tender, very outback.
