Just back from Surfer's Paradise, Queensland. Paradise City. The Gold Coast. Australia's Miami Beach.

We are here for a long holiday weekend at the Crowne Plaza, Broadbeach. Michelle is a presenter at the annual conference of the The Australian Council for Adult Literacy, on behalf of the Sioux Hudson Literacy Council. Her's was the session they were all 'buzzing' about. People continue to be impressed by the great successes of the Sioux Hudson Literacy Centre.

Gabe and I were along for the moral support. We've been busy at Broadbeach, Movie World, Wet 'n Wild, and the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. While there, we got up close and personal with some real 'dinky-die' Aussie wildlife. Hope you enjoy them!

The Furry Fab Four
Here they are in all their Mop-top glory. Bugs and Daffy had a punch up during 'Hello Goodbye' (You say goodbye, I say hello). The band eventually fell apart when Peppy and Daffy became too close, driving a wedge between him and Bugs. This was the ride that Gabe was most excited about. It did not disappoint!

Eady held on to the lead from pole position to the photo finish. This is the first victory of the race season for Team Gonzalas.

Scoob, Shaggy and the gang cruise in to solve another mystery in their Mystery Machine. And you'll never guess what! The Ghost was actually the video director in a mask! Go figure.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary - Rainbow Lorikeet Feeding
They were eating out of our hands. Literally.

Gabe feeds the Rainbow Lorikeets a milky nectar-like snack. MMmmm, nectar.

Crocodile Hunters
We subdued the mighty croc by taking him down for a little death roll of our own. Crikey!

Waiting For My Closeup
Koalas have a sleepy appearace due to the eucalyptus leaves they eat. The leaves release a toxin that is very difficult to digest. It takes all the koala's energy to break down it's food.

What a fun time you are having. We just got back from Portugal but I enjoyed Australia more. Hello Family!
Spent some time looking at your picture's tonight. Enjoyed the photo's and the commentary very much! Looks like you all enjoyed Surfer's Paradise! Gabe I can't believe you got to adopt a Koala! Taro looks very sweet. I wonder what her name means? I am envious of your tans and sunshine as we are about to have another rainy week in Vancouver! Do kids do Halloween in Australia? If so what will Gabe be? I talked to mom last night, she is missing you all. We are having an early Christmas in Killarney this year from the 9th to the 16th of December, Jer and I are looking forward to having some time at home. Anyways I will be watching for the next blog!
