A lovely sunny morning, Janet, Tam & Brenda arrived, as did Melvin, Carol & Billie, We hooked the boat up to the 4x4 and the merry convoy set off for Clevelnad and the ferry - not across the Mersey - but to a little island in the South Pacific called Stradbroke Island. We’d been ther over New Year a few years earlier, camped out in a place Carol & Melvin had rented and enjoyed swimming in the lagoon, basking in the sunshine, and chilling out big time. The ferry across was great - sun cracking the flags, Tyson mooching about on the top deck, talk fo where we were gonna go fishing, sailing and swimming - good auld Straddie. We got up to the house Kevin & Debbie had rented, nice big place, 5 minutes from ... read more

Ok, so I realize I'm really behind in my entries and I sincerely apologize. The internet in our apartment is on and off and I have a small quote of bandwidth I can use on campus. So, I'm going to do my best to catch up on all the traveling I've done so far. Straddie is an island off the coast of Brisbane and we got to go there as part of our study abroad program with Arcadia. We had a blast! The first day we went sea kayaking in the ocean and actually got to see a dugong as we were paddling through some mangroves along the coast. It was amazing because it swam right near out boats and our guides said they've only seen them there once in the past 10 years, so ... read more

Yesterday we walked for ages in the heat to find a Diving Centre we knew of. As it is the Summer here many trips and Dive Centres are getting really booked up, so they couldn't help us to the weekend, however we did find a good little company on Stradbroke Island. Stradbroke Island is just off the Brisbane Coast in the Pacific Ocean. It is a Mining Site, Resort and World Heritage Site for the Wetlands and Nature it encompasses. We had booked ourselves on the 2pm double Dive, and had to set off from BrisVegas at 9 to get there in time for the boat leaving at 1. We had to get a Train, Bus, Ferry and then another Bus to travel just 40ish miles in 3 hours! Welcome back to the joys of Public ... read more

16.02.06 We were up nice and early to go to the supermarket to buy supplies for our holiday to Stradbroke Island as we had heard that there were only small shops on the island which meant they could be expensive. We also rung the woof lady (Sue) and we got booked in on her farm as of Monday, so we were very excited about that. In true Mel and Andy style our trip was not with a tour company so we got the train from Brisbane to Cleveland then a bus, ferry, taxi followed by another bus.We got to our hostel at point lookout(a small resort just around from where a few weeks ago a young girl was killed by a shark whilst swimming out at sea). We booked in to find we had got the ... read more
