Edit Blog Post
Well its a bit of a wet hello after the weather we have had.
Since we last blogged we have been up to loads. We did a thing in 1770 called scooterroo....basicly a motorbike ride round the coast on bikes done up to look like harleys....lee even had one with the high handlebars and I rode my own bike for the first time. We were in a group of 50 which sounds like loads but was so much fun tearing up the town. The guy who ran it looked like a typical hells angel with the long great hair and beard to match. We were also there the day they were filming their advertising video which will go on youtube so keep a look out for it.
The next day we had surf lessons which was also great fun but so much hard work most people gave in after an hour or so but we refused and kept going for about 4 hours. Only got up a few times but loved doing it and at least now we know the basics so we can keep practising else where. Must remember to get some shorts that tie up properly because
they kept comming down everytime I got on the board and my god was my arse burnt ...I bet you are all loving the imagery.
We next went north to Airlie beach where we left to do our Whitsundays sailing. This was all good up until we hit a cyclone....most of the other boats turned round and headed back but we were too far out and had to brave it...it sounds crazy but when you have lots of irish and alcohol on board you cant help but have a good time!!!! We did however get some sunshine and did some snorkling, had to wear stinger suits tho as there are deadly jellyfish everywhere, the suits arent very attractive at all so look forward to the pics ha ha. We saw some amazing coral and fish you just dont realise how brigt they are until you see them in real life so it was all good. Lee did lots of sailing well stearing and loved it however scared the others when he let them know that he is used to hitting things rather than avoiding them....playing chicken with other boats didnt help!!!
When we got back on land we
did have a few complaints so the manager of the company came out with us that night and got as all free drinks all night there were 15 of us so must have cost a small fortune but we all had a wicked night from what I remember...however the early bus the next morning didnt really help the hangover that followed.
We are now on an island called magnetic island so called because good old captain cooks compass messed up when he first passed it.
The island is stunning even in the rain and last night we went on a jog along the beech and saw a huge dugong in the sea like a humanates sea hippo type thing and baby roos out side our tent. Yes we are mad camping in this weather and you should see the look we get when people find out we are camping but at least we know our tent doesnt leak and its actually quite cool listening to the rain and all the wildlife outside.
We are off to Cairns today and if the weather gets better we will do a trip to Cape tribulation but dont think this weather will
pass soon it looks set to stay thankgod we fly to Aidalaide on Sunday where they have weather warnings too but at the other end of the spectrum because they are just so hot everything keeps bursting into flames....god its a funny country.
Well thats it for now really love you all
Katy and Lee
